    Shuttling vs Not Shuttling

It seems like there has been a bit of anti-shuttle/dh sentiment on this forum in the past. I'm not sure why. Anyways, I was watching this clip for Klunkerz, which has stories from the OG mountain bikers, and when I finished, I realized that from the beginning of MTB history, it was all about the DH! Riding uphill was never mentioned, but I did see a couple of old shuttle trucks. New school? Old school? Whatever your preferences may be, I think this is a pretty good argument that the roots of mountain biking are more aligned with DH than XC.

Kids these days, all they wanna do is ride uphill! Back in the day we used to shuttle. Now get off my lawn!!!!!

I believe the argument you are referring was about shuttling Syncline, not shuttling in general. There were rumors, possibly false or true, that shuttlers were causing an uproar at Syncline. I have no problem with shuttling, just as long as it does not cause any private land owners, etc. to want to close a great trail down.

    Cool video, though.

That's good because there are also rumors, possibly true or false, that Courtney Road is going to be gated off, and a chairlift will be installed.

A chairlift WOULD be wicked. It would solve eveything except maybe people getting pissed at us peeping in on someone's wife taking a shower while we are riding up the lift.

WAIT -- do you know people who shuttle UH, aka nothing but climbing? I have suggested that in the past but didn't think anyone was actually into it. It takes all kinds I guess!

I was referring to the quantity of riders. We had 36 that year.

I've never shuttled a ride, but I would for the Paulina to Sisters. That looks awesome.

On a somewhat related note, things are looking up for shuttling in the Tillamooks State Forest. I'll post a new thread, but there's gonna be some DH/FR going on, with building hopefully starting 2010.

It was awesome. The route we planned was 90% single track. Logistical nightmare (shuttled both ends, set up 3 aid stations and up to 12 hours to finish it) Beyond Epic!
