All, they are currently logging (and have been for a while) on the hills above/east of Sandy Ridge. They are using the paved road for the route of the log trucks. These trucks tend to go fairly fast, as they are very heavy and it's a steep road. If you meet one around a corner, they may not be able to stop, and you may not be able to get out of the way in time.
If the gate at the bottom is open, it's probably because a trunk is up there getting loaded and will be coming down soon, so please stay on the "bike path" portion of the road. You will probably hear the jake brake when one is coming, but if your music is up loud or your buddy just told a great joke and you're laughing your head off, you may not see it until it's coming around a corner at you.
I'm sure the drivers are being as careful as they can, so let's help them out and if the gate is open be extra careful.
Stay safe everyone. The trail is running fast.
