    Portland Winter Rides

I'm meeting some friends in Portland this coming weekend and we're going to go mountain biking. One has fairly minimal riding experience, but both are in very good shape. Anyone have any suggestions for a ride? Mildly technical and longer than ten miles would be great. Something similar to North Shore in Oakland would be pretty perfect.

    Thanks folks.

I have no idea what the North Shore in Oakland is like, but I'd recomend the Wilson River Trail or 3 Corner Rock for winter riding around Portland.
I only ride bikes to fill the time when I'm not skiing.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll be giving one of them a shot.

    Siouxon

Rode Siouxon Tuesday and it was great--in very good shape. Someone with limited mountain biking experience would likely enjoy it over 3 Corner, imo.

    Deschutes river trail.

Or the stuff around Hamilton Butte on the Washington side of the river. There isn't a lot of singletrack, mostly doubletrack, but a lot of it is pretty steep. They were putting in more singletrack last summer.

Niether of these are really Hood River though.

The Hospital Hill rides are very muddy in winter but during dry times and frozen times it can be doable. Most of the rides around HR in the winter are mud pits...including Syncline at times--like now.
