OT: know of a water treatment job within an hour of Salem

My wife has an interview for a job in Salem, Oregon. We have been wanting to move to the Northwet for a while. No we aren't from California. We are from Colorado. I have been a Water treatment plant operator for the last 9 years. I know its a long shot, but I'm wondering if anybody knows of a water treatment plant job within an hour of Salem.

I don't have any certifications. I have a Colorado A cert, which is equivalent to an Oregon 4 in water treatment.

There may be a water treatment position in Lebanon but my wife isn't sure. They hire through HKA at her company.

If you could let me know that would be great.

HKA doesn't currently list any positions in Oregon right now.

Just went through that site and made a folder with links to the job sites of each city, county and state job board. Thanks for the link.

The city of salem lists all of their job openings here:

    City of Salem Job Opportunities

The Wastewater Treatment Plant for the city of salem has some turnover of operators, new operators are generally on graveyard for some time. They probably have been averaging a new hire once a year. Some of their operators are probably within 2 or so years of retirement. Not all of the WWTP within an hours drive are publicly run, some are private also. Here is a link to Clean Water Services that operate some of the Portland sites:

    Job Openings

If you are lucky enough to move to Salem, I'm always up to showing off some of our local trails.

It is kind of weird that there are a bunch of waste water positions, but very few water treatment jobs. In Colorado they seem to be about the same. The only reason I got into water treatment 9 years ago was because that's the job I happened to get. I was looking to get into either. Thanks for the links everyone.

Before I started treating water for a living, I was a commercial brewer for 12 years. People liked me better when I was a brewer. Maybe I will go back to brewing for a living. I do really miss it.

HKA does seem to suck at listing positions. I think you can put in an unsolicited application though. There seems to be a shortage of quality workers in wastewater right now my wife has had trouble hiring the last couple years.

The wife will work for the state government, doing quality initiatives for early childhood education. She would most likely work out of Salem if we can make this work.

Still looking. I applied for a Waste water job in Tigard. We are probably going to live in South Portland if we can make this work.

By the way my wife is flying out for a second interview in a week.

If you have a background in water treatment you could apply for many chem tech jobs. The HP campus in Corvallis does a lot of ink R&D and they have been hiring a lot of chem techs through contract agencies lately.

Don't know if this worked out for you or not, but if you are still looking for anything, Portland is hiring for a Water Treatment Operator.
