We've seen steady rain all week, so I doubt anything is dry, or in good shape. This time of year, many Oakridge trails are in frageile condition. After a few dry days, things may get better, butI suspect that right now, there's nothing but mud and puddles.

An Oakridge local said she could see snow on all the hills around town. Other than the very low river trails, you might have issues getting to trailheads. The bottom of Middlefork would be my first choice. Things will melt off over the next couple days, but won't dry out for this weekend. Maybe next weekend will be better if the forecast is correct.

So you're saying I should come down to ride the Middle Fork next weekend? Hmmm, very interesting.

No, he said you should come down to Whypass next weekend (Sunday, Nov. 8) and help with the trailbuild day there. At least that's what I clearly heard him say...

P.S. Wait a minute... how 'bout this... Saturday = ride MFT; Sunday = build trail?

Word on the Middle Fork is, closed because of extreme danger of falling snags between Paddy's Valley and Sacandaga. The bridges in that area are all burned out too. Riding as an up and back from the bottom there is enough trail to entertain all day. There is a group going out to do just that today in fact.

thanks, Nat. 2 shots in there, both by me, not of me.

1 is going national in a photo annual.

Lower MFT was in good shape on Sunday, after a few dry days. There were 3-4 sets of trees down, but otherwise, everything looks good up to Sacandaga.
