    Newport?

I am heading to Oregon with the family for 2 weeks this summer. We are staying in Bend for 5 nights and Newport for 9. I have been to Bend, so I have a pretty good idea what rides I want to do, but while I have been to Newport, I have never been with my bike. Any advice on riding in the Newport area would be appreciated. The group I am going with are experienced AM/XC riders. We are not afraid of a climbs, and are good with flowy or technical steep descents.

That looks like a great ride, but I couldn't see where it is and how to get there. I could google it.

Try contacting these guys. Looks like they have a wednesday night ride, but it's hard to see exactly where, on the map. They may also know of little known, hidden gems.

I did send them a tweet, but I haven't got a response. I might send them an email if I don't hear back. Thanks.

Been a long time since I have ridden down there but I remember Newport being pretty limited when I lived there. Some short singletrack sections locally, but mostly logging roads with3" minus gravel. Not ideal. 30 minutes south of Newport is Cape Perpetua. Cummins Creek and Cooks Ridge(?) are fun and there are some trails in Florence also, one hour South. There was a thread in here last year from Jollybeggar on those trails.
Definitely check out Mary's Peak if you don't mind a 45 minute drive inland. Probably the best stuff within an hour of Newport.

Also check Bikes 101 website in Florence. There are some rides listed there that are just south of Cape Perpetua. Some trails called the "horse trails" are pretty good. The Newport bike shop will most likely know about those trails as well. I think you can count on driving 30 minutes to an hour for single track. Since you'll be in Newport for 9 days, you may as well try a couple different trails. Maybe head south for one or two days and hit Mary's Peak to the east for a couple days.

Also, the bike shop in Newport that you're facebooking and tweeting does have some access to trails on private land, which they sometimes hit on the Wednesday night ride.
You're so cute internet tough guy. Noogie...Noogie...Noogie.

Thanks for the response. We are going to Mary's Peak for sure. I will contact the shop.
