    Last Minute: Tillamook WRT Sunday

I'm gonna head out to the Tillamook Visitor's Center tomorrow and try to ride around 10AM.

It looks like no snow there:

It's gonna be a nice easy ride. I haven't ridden my single speed in a couple of months, and I'm just plain tired of the trainer.

I'll take a few pics for those that can't make it. ;-)

    Hi LeeMan,
I rode it Friday afternoon and the trail is very rideable. I made it about a mile past Wolf Creek (~5.5 miles from Visitor Center) and then came back. There was one small patch of snow along the river and then a couple patches of snow about halfway up the climb out of Wolf Creek. Other than that, the trail is pretty dry and should be even better tomorrow. I don't carry a saw, but did manage to clear a lot of the smaller blowdown along the way. There are a few trees down that you will have to climb over, but it still was great to be on the trail. Have a great time!

    Thanks!

    Thanks for the update!

I'll be riding it alone. I'll see if I can make it past sunglass creek (aka washout gulch).

    It was sweeet!

I got out to the Tillamook Forest Visitor's Center about 11AM on Sunday.

    It was sunny!

There was a hint of snow in the parking lot, but I wasn't afraid.

I soon had the trail to myself -- a surprise on such a nice day.

My only company a fisherman (way down on the river).

I was a little creeped out when I came across this seemingly-recent animal kill. Be very glad this is not smell-o-vision. I got out of there fast.

I was pleasantly surprised by the level of Wilson Falls. I made it half-way across heading out, and all the way across on the way back!

I came upon several sections of trail that were blocked by downed trees or branches.

These were all present 4 weeks ago (my last ride here), so I hauled out the saw 3 times to remove them. Here's the "after" ...

Here's a sunny finishing picture -- I got back on the steed and rode ... until I managed to fly OTB! Good news: only a strained wrist.
