Landslides in Corvallis Mac-Dunn forests - public access is closed for now

Director of the OSU College Forests John Mann has announced that all access to the McDonald-Dunn Forests are closed due to concerns for public safety. There are a number of landslides on the roads and trails of the forest, making it unsafe for use by the public for any reason. This notification will be in effect until further notice. Signs to this effect will be posted at the main entry points to the forest.

We've also heard from a couple of people that the top of Alpha is permanently washed out. Someone always figures this doesn't apply to them, so if you decide that you really must poach right now, please use caution. Landslides are no joke.

Seriously folks it's pretty nasty up there. The slide we came across at the top of Alpha was huge.

Not that I condone anyone going up there now, but if you are, or have some already, it would be interesting to see some pictures of the damage. I'm an insurance agent, so I have a related interest.
