I rode a Spider 2.2 on Sunday. I pounded that bike down lower Bunchgrass and Heckletooth, two of the most demanding and most technical trails in the area. Very impressed with the handling. Very quick and it pretty much went where I pointed it in the rocky/rooty stuff.

    Thanks for the ride.

Oregon Bike Shop (new shop in Montavilla on Stark by the Academy Theater) is hosting (or that was their plan, had to make sure they could get a permit, last time I talked to the owner).

I'd give them a call and see where exactly they're going to be.

    Oregon Bike Shop
    7918 SE Stark St.
    Portland, OR 97215
    (877) 325-2453

(I have no affiliation w/ the shop, just live in the 'hood)

Been trying to get a hold of Oregon Bike Shop about the Intense demo day and keep getting a message saying "All customer service reps are assisting other customers" (for Real). What is this place? Never heard of them. And why Mount Tabor? Seems like an odd place to demo Mt bikes.
I only ride bikes to fill the time when I'm not skiing.

Hmm, just tried their local number (503-575-1804) and got the same msg, although it prompts you to leave a msg. Did you leave one?

Oregon Bike Shop is a new bike shop that opened in June, carries in Intense, Yeti, KHS, and maybe some other brands. I live close enough so it would be my closest LBS, so I went in last month and talked to the owner, Jim. I think he's in business w/ Sue, who also works there, but I'm not sure. They were still doing work on the racks, etc., the day I was there, but last week the store looked pretty well stocked. Jim races short-track at PIR, and I've seen him out at Scappoose before, also. Nice guy to talk to, indicated that KHS was his entry level line, as his shop motto was "Bikes for everybody" or something like that, meaning budget/commuter bikes as well as high-end rigs.

The oregonbikeshop.com domain forwards to his old domain, bicycleface.com, which he posted a bunch of GPS info to, along w/ videos from another local rider who posts here as "jgusta" (sweet helmet cam vids from a strong rider, check his vids on Vimeo).

There is another phone number listed there that you could try, 503.320.2492.

As far as why Mt Tabor, well, it's close to the shop. Not extreme terrain, but if you wanted to find out how brand "X" bike suspension design climbs, there's enough elevation at Tabor to make it worthwhile. Good access to a ton of people at the park, and it's in his hood. I understand your question, though, not sure it would be fun on an Uzzi...

I rode the 951 at Blackrock on Sictar - it was good.
