I rode both this past weekend. Conditions were pretty darn good at The Maston, some puddles in the canal section, otherwise pretty dry and fast. Horse Ridge was very limited due to snow. I only rode up Parkway to Escape from Moscow back down to the car, that was right at the snow line, beyond that it would have been a snow ride.
The overnight temps have been mild for the last week so the freeze/thaw cycle has not created those really soft conditions that just plain suck to ride in. I know it seems weird, but its not really the moisture its the thawing that makes for slow and messy trail conditions. Seems like if over night temps stay above 30 you're generally going to be okay. IMO
Couldn't stand another gray/rainy day in Portland so I escaped to Bend. Rode Maston today in the 60+ degree sunshine. Totally dry already.
