headed down to St. Paul, OR. Places to ride?

    Howdy,

I'm headed down to St. Paul from Bellingham, WA with my girlfriend this weekend. She's got a trail running race at Champoeg State Park. Are there any places to ride near by? I'm open to drive 45 min.

    Thanks in advance!

there are several options depending on the type of riding you are looking for. most are about an hour drive though. Silver Creek Falls state park has about 20 miles of trail that can be rode, some climbing which = some nice descending, Henry Hagg Lake has a nice cc trail around it. Mollala river trails are fun and shellburg falls trails are also within an hour. There is a Flow Cup down hill race at Black Rock this weekend if that is your style, shuttle practice on saturday and race on sunday. A few of us will be riding this weekend around the Salem area on trails you need to know to ride, you are willing to join us if you want, PM me if you are interested.

Thanks for the recommendation. To be honest, I'm surprised you were the only one that responded. Anyways, I ended up riding at the Mollala River Trails. Nice and quiet trails. Didn't see anyone out there. My dog and I had a blast.

    Thanks again!

Which trails did you end up riding? That looks like a nice trail.

A majority of the pictures were taken on Mark's Trail.

I helped build that trail. Molalla is a good beginner/intermediate area.

Yeah, not many PDX folks think of Molalla much, since it is kind of intermediate. I've actually never been there in the 6 years I've been riding here, but then again I'm a lazy slacker ...

Glad you found a ride so you and your doggy could get your groove on.

The only other trail I might have suggested would have been in Tillamook Forest, and that's probably a good hour from St. Paul.

Yeah, it's intermediate trails for sure, but I was looking for smooth stuff since I brought the rigid down. Intermediate trails are just as fun as some of the hard stuff we have up here in northern Washington. It's nice to switch it up. Some days it's just nice to flow...
