"Freedom Riders" Portland Showing: August 13th, Clinton St Theater

    Portland showing of "Freedom Riders"
    August 13th, 2009-- 7 & 9 PM showings

    http://www.clintonsttheater.com/

The story of rogue trailbuilders in Jackson and a larger look at DH trailbuilding and relationships w/ land managers... should be sweet.

Usually Fat Tire sponsors a film in spring, but I don't think there was one this year.. this should fill the gap.

***And would someone open a brewpub in this town that caters to the outdoor crowd and has the space to cash in on showing ski/snowboard/bike/ movies?***

    From their media pamphlet:

"Our story follows the people and events of downhill mountain biking,
from itsí infancy, to the phenomenon that it is today. The film highlights the
late 90ís and early 2000ís explosion of downhilling and mostly illegal trail
building across North America, as well as a group of renegade downhill
mountain bikers who let nothing stand between them and gravity. We follow
these individuals from the early days of exploration and innovation, to the
implementation of the first downhill specific trail system in Forest Service
history. Beginning with conflict and clandestine trail building, these riders
eventually gain acceptance and form a collaborative relationship with the
    Forest Service."

The ww kayak community is showing a video at Hopworks Urban Brewery on Powell and 31st-ish next month. You might check with them. They also did a fundraiser at Fire on the Mountain at 1703 E Burnside. Another worth checking out.

Tickets are just $6 and there will also be a raffle with $600 in prizes from Chris King, REI and Yakima!

This movie is all about getting sustainable trial on the ground and the time is great. With Forest Park agreeing to add more single track for mtbs by next year, new trails in the Tillimook with legal dh/fr, LL. Stub Stewart Park with an entire area dedicated to just mtbs, the new Sandy trail system with a legal fr area, new system going into Powell Butte, Gateway Green.... Portland may finally live up to it's bike friendly reputation for our community! Come by, watch a great flick, hear about all the new trail that is coming to Portland and the surrounding area! Hope to see everyone there!

    cheers,
    Will

Agreed, I also enjoyed the refresher at the begining of how mountain biking came to be. Good movie and I wish we would have filled the place up....next time!

    Nice work Will and Tom!
