Coming to ride the MRT, where to go afterwards?

As the title suggests, we're coming to Oregon in early August to ride the McKenzie River Trail with Cog Wild Tours. After we get done with that (3) day tour, we'll have another 3-5 days to ride. We're looking for some suggestions on where to go while we're up that way....

We will have (2) cars so can shuttle ourselves if necessary but would ideally be looking for loops of 20-25 miles. We're on 5" travel bikes for the most part but won't be hucking off any crazy drops. The only area I have really heard anything about is the Oakridge area since I had friends that rode MBO last year but we're open to anything...

Good riding out of Hood River as well, and a couple of brewpubs that do a good showing when they come to the Brewfest in Bend. I think the Brewfest is Aug 15-17 this year btw

Oakridge is near by (connect with the beautiful Aufderheide scenic drive).

O'Leary and King-Castle/Castle Rock trails are beautiful near the MRT.

    Fun, fun!
The three day tour will include O'Leary and King Castle/Castle Rock. We would recommend spending 2 days riding in Bend and 2 days riding in Oakridge. Although you have two cars, both places have shuttle systems set up (Cog Wild in Bend & Oregon Adventures in Oakridge) that will get you to the goods without any hassle.
Give us a call in the office or send an email and we can help with details..
Of course Mt Hood and Ashland areas are options too..

Not much of a need to shuttle for many rides in Bend.

I hope our current sweltering, balmy summer weather is gone by the time you arrive! You, know, for comfort's sake.

I rode MRT on Friday for the first time. Holy crap -- amazing. One of the best days I have ever spent on a mountain bike. It was a blast -- loved the amazing flow of so much of that trail. But, yes, some parts certainly humbled me. Especially the lava sections around Clear Lake -- should have taken the advice to go around the right side on the Clear Lake Trail instead. Oh well -- next time. This is an annual trip for sure.

Definitely spend a couple days in Oakridge (Alpine, Tire Mtn, Hardesty, Moon Pt, Middle Fork... call Randy at Oregon Adventures), and a couple days in Bend (Wanoga Complex, Tumalo, Phils). So many options...
that rug really tied the room together.
