Cell phone coverage - Oakridge/MRT/Bend/Hood River areas

Can any locals advise me which carrier(s) have best/any coverage in the above areas?

I'll be biking by myself whilst my girl-friend is off hiking!

US Cellular tends to have the best coverage in remote areas, especially with their oder phones

Oakridge trails and MRT: Spotty at best, no matter which carrier.

The trouble with common sense is it is no longer common

In Oakridge: Verizon works. Sprint doesn't. AT&T is spotty.

I was just on the MRT and Verizon worked just fine, in the campground. I didn't try it on the trail.

My experience has been that Verizon covers Oregon as well as or better than any other service. You can add T-mobile to the "doesn't work in Oakridge" group too.

As for Hood River, I find that coverage is good near town and the valley on the trails in Post Canyon and Syncline but if you get farther up towards Mt. Hood on trails like those off of Rd. 44 I wouldn't count on getting a signal.

Bend: Verizon is pretty decent but there are a few spots higher up without coverage. There's complete coverage (AFAIK) in Phil's triangle.

Thanks for the replies - looks like Verizon will have best chance of any coverage...
