    Bend trails this weekend?

So, has anyone been out on the trails around Phil's/Marvin's/COD in the past day or so since the snow has melted and temps have risen? I'm curious if I could stitch together a ride. Something like, from near Shevlin Pk, over to Ben's, Rd to Kent's, up Kent's, over to Phil's, out ELV, around COD, across Century to River Trail and out towards Sunriver for a while, then back. Or, what are the chances of riding all the way from Bend to Sunriver on the River Trail? Anyone know how high up the snow has melted, if at all?

    THANKS!

    - Jeff

I'd be very surprised if any of those routes have snow on them. Maybe soggy spots, but I doubt snow.

But I'd like to know, too, if anyone has firsthand knowledge.

Here's the Tripcheck camera shot at Lava Butte and 97...about the same elevation at the rides you mention. Looks clear to me.

Here is the NOAA forecast for the Phils area.

Rode out there today. About half way up Phil's Canyon I started to run into snow that was soft and melting quickly, making the trail somewhat sloppy in spots. This was about 10:30 or 11:00 am. It got worse up to the intersection with Kent's. Went down Kent's and it was the same down to the first road crossing. My thoughts were"Any warmer and it would be sloppy muddy." If it was colder it would be great as there was only an inch to three inches in the deepest spots. My advice is if it freezes tonight GET ON IT EARLY before it thaws and you should be fine. If not then stay way low like Marvin's, KGB, Express, and Phil's below the canyon, Kent's to Express cutoff, you get the idea. All of the way low stuff is prime right now. Have fun. BTW thanks to Willem for clearing the drains in Phil's Canyon today. You rock!

Thanks!!! More work to be done. Will work on the braking bumps next. Rode the trail this afternoon. Things had melted. Made it up to 300. Snow on the way up. Firm in some spots but getting soupy. More snow expected tonight.

Pic from last night. Getting up to RD300 was getting a little mushy and wet, but still not bad at all. Few slush sections right before the end of Ben's but not bad.

Cool, thanks for the update. I might get out this afternoon and was wondering how high up is good.

Is that a Slash 8 or Remedy. If Slash, how ya diggin' it compared to, I think you were riding and SX trail before?

Thanks for posting the pic. I was able to sneak in a ride at Syncline in the Gorge for 2.5hrs of good riding with 4k' of climb/decent before the heavy rains came roaring in this early afternoon. Everything thing is a wash here right now.

2011 Remedy 8. Got a good deal so I figured I would try it out. Pedals great, light, and almost as good as the Sx through the rough, now that I re-did the shock/fork internals. Kind of short BB to front axle length being a 17.5 frame. If it was a 18.5 or 19.5 would be a perfect bike I am thinking. The short front end puts a lot of weight on the front tire, making it push too much for my taste through HARD corners, easier than a short chainstay long wheelbase bike.

Hoping to get a couple hours in today while we can!

Run up and down Ben's yesterday and aside from freeing my fingers and toes, the trail is AWESOME! Not one puddle or even muddy spot.

Thinking about venturing up past RD300 today. Anyone see if trails are clear up that high yesterday by any chance?

Still some snow beyond 300. I will explore further tomorrow. Had a late start this pm and could only fit in a ride from house to 300 and back.

Run up Ben's and down Phils last night the trails are PERFECT! Did look still a little snowy up higher, but I'm thinking Whoops is clear as it looked like a lot of new tracks coming down.
