    Beginner needs a trail recommendation

I am a relative newb and have been riding at Lacamas Lake the past few weeks. I am looking for another place to ride that isn't too far from Vancouver, WA. I am willing to drive a little ways, but Bend, Hood, etc are a little far for now.

I am also looking for others to ride with that are relative beginners/old, fat guys I am 37 and not really that fat, but I am just starting to get back into shape, so big climbs aren't a lot of fun yet, LOL!

Hagg Lake should be fine for you. (Search for it here, or let your Google finger do the walking)

There is a combo of trails and old farm paths scattered around the WSU Vancouver campus that would be beginner friendly.

The Ellen Davis trail linked to the BPA trail that connects to the Burnt Bridge creek walking path is short but also beginner friendly.

Whipple Creek park has a network of trails. They are targeted at the horse crowd but are OK for a beginner to ride(avoid weekends). They will be dusty now and mucky in the middle of winter. Late spring and early fall are your best shot there.

Powell Butte. Info here: Trail:Powell Butte - NWTA Wiki

Also, I would check into Northwest Trail Alliance at Northwest Trail Alliance. Great resource for trail info, ride and trail work events, meeting other riders in the area. Join up, even.

yeah powell butte is a good beginner place. There are only a few trail loops there, so you won't get lost. Some of the climbs are pretty steep and punchy, but none are extremely long.

just watch out for hikers and horse poop. Several of the trails are marked and non-biking, but I do believe the rule is somewhat overlooked.
