Coyote is closed so there is nothing to shuttle at syncline. Dirt is in great shape though. Have a great ride.

Is syncline easy to navigate if you've never been there?
Thinking of hitting it up for the first time this weekend.

Very easy, jeep road is the up (or maui) and Maui/Moab/Hidden for downs.
Here is an old but perfectly workable map (don't need to carry it with yu just as a visual reference)

It closed last year and was kinda decommissioned (and signed at the bottom used to be a sign at the second gate as well). I would not post anything about riding there as the FS does have some random monitoring. Its been a long and contentious issue (basically the FS cannot advocate trails that enter or lead into private land)..... so for what its worth you know what to do.

I know that trail you're taking about, Coyote Canyon trail, We shuttle to the top of Coyote Wall trail / Cry Baby, at the end of Courtney road.

the REI army should be out in force this weekend.
you should have no problem figuring out where to go @ syncline this weekend. watch out for team Hiking Pole and team Fanny Pack. They should be all over starting in about an hour.
TTRD- what do you think whoop-dee is like this weekend?

I think you may be in luck, it may be a bit greasy in the wooded areas but could be good in the open areas. Gone for the weekend (ridding the SS in Bend) but lets go for a ride when I get back!

"Trail below Coyote Wall (Syncline) is now closed."
I'm talking about the trail that on top of the wall, that starts in the woods up top at the old car/truck at the Dead End sign.

We drive up courtney road and drop off on Atwood road, take that to Co1, and so on.

Ok - in looking at those links the trail BELOW Coyote wall is closed. Syncline is not closed, nothing on top of the wall in closed.
The trail that runs north along the base of the wall that is entered by the cattle ramp off the of the old hwy - don't ride there.

exactly. Coyote Wall is the trail at the base of the wall and in the valley between courtney road and syncline. Don't ride that.

Right! I did however get to ride it two years ago, it WAS a fun trail, I enjoyed it.
I really like to get out to the far east end, trail "Ca3" Never been out that way. I really kind of wish the trails had trail markers...

That is the best way, it's not that bad of a climb, I may just end up doing that myself.

Yes the jeep road is the only way to access Maui and Moab laps and its a short easy climb, its only 10 switchbacks to climb to Maui and 11 to Moab. It take a few minutes to climb and is much better than ridding the trainer in my garage!

Did you ride it? What was it like? I rode past the trailhead Saturday on my cross bike. Looked a little muddy from the road. Saw a number of folks riding it though.

it's horrible and shouldn't be ridden for at least another 5 or 6 days. honestly the muddiest attempt at riding I have done. bailed out and took the road back after about 1/2 a mile
