Announcing All Comer's Meet IX -- Sun., Jan 20, 2013
Announcing.............
ALL COMER'S MEET IX (ACM)
ACM is a FUN regional mountain bike event hosted by The Disciples of Dirt (DOD), An IMBA Chapter
Date: Sunday, January 20, 2013
Time & place: 9:45am at "The Pile." Directions below.
Venue: Whypass Trail Network near Lorane, OR – trails are in great shape!
Come ride DOD’s fun “stash singletrack network” in Oregon’s scenic Logging Land! 25-ish miles of sweetness!
Everyone is welcome! All abilities! Invite your friends! It’s NOT a race!
Last year over 150 hardy riders braved snowy conditions to make ACM-VIII the BEST EVER! ACM8 recap here.
This is an all-abilities fun day of riding -- NOT a race!
That’s right -- pure fun. Leave your game face at home. Of course helmets are required.
Donations to DOD are encouraged. Please bring a little cash to support DOD’s land access & trailwork efforts. Thank you.
DOD plans to offer post-ride chili & crackers in addition to…
Ninkasi Brewing Co. on board as refreshment sponsor.
Bring a camp chair for enjoying the post-ride bonfire.
Please carpool if you can. “The Pile” recently became a REAL gravel stockpile again. Just enough room remains for a post-ride party – not so much for parking cars. Please park along the road.
MUD on hand! Bring fenders or enjoy the brown showers. J
Got a pop-up? Bring it please & thank you.
Plus bring firewood if you’ve got some… the more firewood, the better the post-ride bonfire.
Got a used Christmas tree? Bring it… burn it.
DOD branding irons... yes, of course they’ll be on hand as usual.
Want to win a new RockShox fork? Who doesn’t! Buy raffle tix here.
RockShox raffle is a fundraiser for DOD. Need NOT be present to win. Thank you, RockShox!
Need directions? Directions to Whypass.
Event info: right here.

Bring cash to this thing folks! A twenty will get you five raffle tickets if you're not a dues paying DOD member. We might even be able to work in a hug or two from your favorite DOD board member...whoever that might be.
It's sunny at Rancho del Brocko just 20 miles away from Whypass, right now! That's gotta be some kind of omen it'll be sunny on the 20th!

Quick question: is a well-behaved trail dog welcome? He doesn't drink more than his fair share of the beer...

There'll be one less dog as I will be helping run a disc golf tourney in North Bonn. Damn the timing!

Brutha, you obviously need to adjust your priorities! Meanwhile I'll wear my Just Fruit socks out of respect... & disappointment.

Thanks for the support--you realize this commits you to helping transport my arse to the ambulance once I end up in a coaster-brake death-slide, right?

As a fellow member of Club Vulture, I would do whatever necessary to assist you... even if you were aboard an inferior brand at the time of your catastrophe.

Embarrassingly, my Vulture has basically become my town bike. It's a 26er singlespeed, and I'm now hopelessly addicted to big wheels. So, I ride my kid to school behind a bike much too nice for that purpose.

Good Chris, Spectacular Brock here. Trails are in great shape. There's a couple slick spots in the usual locations but...8 or so dry days combined with some great attention to water management and general trail maintenance=freaking awesome Whypass conditions. I'll be running a front mud guard but leaving the mud specific tread at home...hopefully.

Sick!
I converted to wagon wheels, too. My Vulture is #25... Wade built her even before he left Metolius... way back in '02 (she celebrates her 11th birthday next month). Anyway she started life as a 26er like yours, but I stuffed a 29" front wheel in there and can't believe how well she handles with big meat. Heh, heh.
She never lets me down.

The weather has been dry and will (probably...no, will!) remain so for ACM IX! Come have a good time. Get in some good single track fun with great friends. Buy some raffle tickets, support the work we do (building that awesome trail system you just enjoyed, maintaining and fixing trails in EVERY corner of Lane county), win a friggin sweet Rock Shox fork or one of a number of top shelf prizes! We have some great items made available from Life Cycle, Hutch's and Paul's bike shops. It's a great mountain biker community event!
Please carpool. Space is tight...like tight. Not kinda tight or mostly tight...but super tight. We'll have folks on hand helping everyone get in the correct place, out of harm's way and lined up for super fun good times!
There's a guided group for every ability and interest so come on out. There's even going to be a group that takes a tour of Whypass's more gravity oriented sections and will be sessioning them...ridiculously fun.
Come ride with us.

It's 6:30am as I type Sunday, 1/20 -- ACM9 is TODAY! Weather forecast is "areas of freezing fog" and a high of 35ºF -- perfect! Don't forget we'll have great riding plus a post-ride bonfire and hot food for ya. See yaz out there!
