    2008 Ashland Super D?

Does anyone know if this is going to happen this year? It isn't on the OBRA list of events for the year, I hope they didn't kill it.

God I hope it's still on. Super D is way too fun to not do.

I have heard rumors it might happen and that they are searching for a date that will work. I don't know for sure though.
Moving to Bend? Let me help.

In the April Decline, it's listed to go down June 15. (Fathers day)

Of the 50+ events listed, it's the ONLY one to say "tentative."

What group or individual is responsible for putting this event on? I'd get involved locally if I knew where to start.

I live here and I'm not sure... In the past, The main gal's name was Tita and she ran a sport promotion company. (It's called "Breakaway Events" but now it's some dating site or something. )

Here are a few links in the right direction: First is a local pro Nathan Riddle who helped mark the course last year, (and got second to Mark Weir.) Next 2 are a couple local shops that usually stay informed. Good luck...

Wow. I showed up to work my Saturday shift at the bike shop and a poster for the race was on the wall! I guess the Mongoose Tribe put up some funds to help the race happen this year... Only 200 entries allowed.

    Anyway, here's a link:

What about pre-riding the course? Those who aren't local would benefit from some organized shuttles for riding the course the day before the event. I'm all about 'earning' your downhill, but doubt I would want to do that climb more than once!

Too bad it's the same day as the ToE. I'm doing the Oregon XC series events so I won't be able to make it.

What about the Spring Thaw DH race on May 3/4 then? Is it going to happen or too much snow?

The DH for Spring Thaw is a lot lower then where the Super D starts. The Super D starts from the ski area at the top of the mountain, the DH starts about halfway down toward town.

That being said I don't know if there is still snow up at the DH but I heard it was pretty clear.

Four Corners and the course are totally clear of snow, the road up to four corners has some snow on the sides.

I'm comming up from So.Cal. and would really be into getting in a couple of runs in on Saturday.

Does Ashland Mountain Adventures have any contact info?

    Doh! I found it..... http://www.ashlandmountainadventures.com/

Take it slow... A run at race pace poops me out! The climb on lower Bull Gap is a short one, but it's a doozy! I would run it Friday, take in the sights Saturday, rip on Sunday IMO.

    Good job!

I wish I could do it on Friday, but I'll be making the 10 hour drive up then.

So, just one easy run on Saturday to get to know the route.

Any recomendendations on where to stay? I got a room at the Roadway Inn in Medford 'cause it was looking like the only thing budget minded that was available.

That sounds about right as the summer is our tourist season. (Shakespear festival...) I honestly don't know the names of all the inns, but I think the La Quinta on the North Ashland exit would be an option. Medford is about 25 minutes north, so I would leave at least an hour to get up to Mt. Ashland on race day... That's when I'll have to leave.

At this point it's anyones guess as I don't think too many people have even made it up there... All the trails from Catwalk down are rideable right now, so I may find out this weekend. From there up though nobody's been riding it.

There's probably 6 feet of snow on Bull gap as we speak... I never even make it up to the top to ride until June anyway and there's been patches of snow at the start of the Super D both years... (Actually I couldn't race it last year, but the first year was fun at the start line to watch everyone ride through the snow without getting tossed! )
