1st time to Oakridge, Tomorrow...
Spur of the moment, thanks in advance for the help!
Heading to Oakridge tomorrow and want a good sample. Will have two rigs to shuttle.
We like technical single track. Not afraid of climbs, but we want to see a lot of Oakridge in one day, so shuttle preferred.
Glancing at a Map, Alpine and Larison Rock stand out.
Looking for advice on short notice.
Also, what bike shops are open and helpful (and deserve some business) on Sundays? Extra credit: Any good stops for a postride beer?

Grab the shuttle from Oregon Adventures to the top of Alpine at Kate's, and then do the whole Alpine-Tire-Cloverpatch-Alpine ride. Moon Point is also a great shuttle; link it up with lower sections of the Middle Fork.
The bike shop is Willamette Mercantile and the beer is at the Brewers Union.
Hope this helps,
If technical is what you like you won't find it on Alpine, Tire or Coverpatch. The ATCA ride IS one fantastic ride though...no doubt about it. Heckletooth will get you tech and speed. Parking at Greenwaters and riding out to South Salmon Creek, to North Salmon Creek, out to pavement then east to the next main road...then up that for 6 or so miles to Heckletooth is a GREAT ride and requires no shuttle since you're not afraid of a little climbing. It's like 24.5 miles and just over 5k'.
The Mercantile is a good shop.
yeah and combine that with Larison Creek trail and you got the Fat Fitty five.
Greenwaters/2102 paved climb/101 dirt climb/Larison Creek/ now your technical until your back to the hwy 21.
Which is a fun ride...until you turn onto 2102 for the second time in the day to close it out on Larison Rock. Then the fun is difficult to see.

one half of that ride is fun. Either half but the both?
I'm going out for a ride now later all.....
We decided to start with an Alpine shuttle because its the "Crown Jewel of Oakridge", easy to shuttle, and hard to get lost.
Long story short, we picked the wrong day. It was cold/wet/miserable. We finished the trail, but were pretty thoroughly beaten down by the weather and decided to call it a day. The weather this October lulled us into forgetting we live in Oregon, and the weather man is a dirty liar.
We will be back to try some of your other suggestions (thanks btw). July sounds good.
