12 Hours of Humboldt registration open (x-post endurance)

We just opened on-line reg for the 5th Annual 12 Hours of Humboldt, July 15 8am to 8pm in the Arcata Community Forest down in NorCal right next to Humboldt State U.

    Enter at http://www.active.com/event_detail.cfm?event_id=1286226

The Team Bigfoot Solo Cup series is back for solos in every category. It's simple, we add up your miles for all the races (12 Hours of Weaverville, 12 Hours of Humboldt, Whiskeytown Nine to Five) throughout the season and at the final event in October we award championships trophys in every category. We had some close battles among the solos in '05 with some category winners taking the gold by only a lap! Fun stuff! For '06 we're adding one more event, Oregon's 12 Hours of Willamette Pass

Expect some new stuff on the 12 Hours of Humboldt course, the local mountain bike community has been working with the city and we're gonna dig some new trails this year. We'll try to work as much of that into the race. Expect the course to be at least 8 miles per lap with about 1700' of climbing per lap.

Enter early, we're limited to 225 riders. The first 20 solos to enter get assigned parking right at the start/finish area.

You couldn't ask for a nicer, more spouse friendly setting. The main venue is right in a city park, complete with a playground, paved parking and a nice big ol' lawn that we use for the pits. And it's all right in town with shopping, restaurants, bike shops, the farmers market, theater and more just minutes away.

Come down to Humboldt County to enjoy a great day of racing in a beautiful setting. A note to those of you living in hot climates, average temp in Arcata in July is 66 degrees, and most of our course is under the shade of giant redwoods! Ahhh, yes!

When I was in High School, Humboldt County bud was the best.
Start off slow & taper off from there.

    You graduated from High School?!

I smelled plenty of bud during 2004's event (not the racers!).

I would love to come back but would like ot see more singletrack/technical miles if possible.

    More singletrack...

The new trails that we're working on will be singletrack. You should check out the 12 Hours of Weaverville and the Whiskeytown Nine to Five, both of those have tons and tons of singletrack.

    Pic is from Weaverville.
