Scandal 29er V1 confusion

I just ordered a V1 Scandal from Titus USA earlier this week. After a small confusion with their stock on hand and colors. I settled on a green V1, SS swapouts, seatpost, and seatpost clamp.

Here's my confusion. I could have swore when I was looking at the specs on the V1, that it had a standard 1-1/8" steering tube. But, checking today, I see that it says it's tapered. So, I called Titus and asked...They said the V1 is 1-1/8" and the V2 is tapered. I was also told this by them before I placed the order.

So, does this frame have straight or tapered?! Or should I plan on ordering the Smoothie Mixer headset?

Scandal 29 Swapout v1 is tapered and fits a smoothie mixer.

How does he V1 and V2 differ? I too am confused.

I believe they change the cable routing for running gears, no rack mounts, and it says something about their slackset headset. Not sure what else.

Cable guide postioning and rack mounts.
V2 has no rack mounts and different guides.

That's right. No more open guides and only rear brake on downtube

You can see the differences on both the US & UK site. Look closely at the down tube and seat tube. Also looks like no bottle mount on the seat tube on the V2.

Just received my V1 Scandal from Fedex. Color is green. Pictures to come after I build it up tonight.

Looking good! Origianlly you posted questioning if the headtube was tapered or straight 1-1/8. Did you end up getting a smoothie headset then? And may I ask what you paid for the frame?

Yes, I ended up ordering the Smoothie Mixer headset. The confusion they had was that they were looking at the specs from the 26" Scandal and not the 29". They hooked me up with the shipping for the headset, since it was a partial mistake on their end. No biggie.

Since I ordered the V1 frame, it was $279. I ordered Some other parts from them and can't remember the complete total. Also, as far as I know...they only have the green left in the V1, but the other colors are available for V2.

Can't wait to ride after work!!!

Check out the above photos that haagar posted. Looks like just the downtube has cage mounts.

I find it strange that the V2 has less braze on mounts and cable routing, but it weighs more.

By the way...I rode it yesterday after work. One word...AWESOME! The smooth Manitou fork coupled with the snappy frame is superb. I have a feeling I'm gonna get too cocky with this one
