    Scandal 29er front derailleur

    On One say: "Low mount mechs are possible only with a 42t or larger outer chainring". Anyone know what the issue is?..tire clearance?...just not being able to get the clamp low enough on the seat tube? Anyone used/tried a low mount with any luck? I don't want to doubt what they say, but curious if this is the case in all situations regardless of set up. For the record Iíve got an X7 2x10 crankset 26/39T with an X7 low clamp front derailleur.

    Definitely a tire clearance issue, with al lot of variables both on the derailleur and tire size. I don't have a Scandal but I'm buying a high mount for my Inbred 29er to avoid any issues. Even if I have 1-2cm of space I prefer to have all the derailleur mechanics far from mud and debris.

    Thanks. Makes me want to take a chance. I usually don't run super huge tires and I suppose 1x or picking up a high clamp is always an option, but I want to keep the costs as low as possible.

    After looking closer at the seat/down tube & BB junction, it appears the the seat tube and down tube meet a bit higher above the BB. Could possible be an issue with getting the clamp low enough. The sram fit guide for my derailler shows 56mm from center of the BB to the bottom of the clamp. Anyone with the newer version (bent seat tube) and an 18" frame care to take a rough measurement and see if 56mm will clear the seat/down tube connection?
