    Built this bike for commuting and local workout rides. The build was straightforward and trouble free.

    I used an Avid CL front rotor and a 6-bolt rear rotor -- have absolutely no clearance issues with the brakes or rotors against the fork or frame.

    There is a little toe overlap but less than I expected, considering this is a compact frame and I am running big fenders.

    Lots of clearance for wider tires and rims.

    The jury is still out on whether I like the strange brake lever/bar arrangement.

    The Paul crank and rear hub are works of art -- fantastic manufacturing.

    This build in general speaks to the creativity and value behind On One/Planet X products.

    Nice looking build.

    I bought a white frame a couple weeks ago to build up as a daily commuter. At ~$180 CAD for frame and fork with cheap shipping to boot, I couldn't pass it up.

    Got some commuting and road ride miles in on this bike. The 48x18 gearing is great for flat rides or rolling hills. Got a 20t cog for more hilly rides but have not tried it yet. Will soon put a Midge bar and road levers on and get rid of the bull-horn configuration (not wide enough for yanking on when climbing). Turns out the L frame is a good fit for me, and I am really enjoying the fixed-gear aspect.

    One thing I forgot to mention: This frame/fork/wheel combo has a neat "springy" feel when going over bumps, railroad tracks, etc. Nice shock absorption and a cool feel.

    I too went from

    a flat bar to the widest salsa cowbell drop bar on my pompino and it really changed the bike for the better. Its also making me rethink the gearing.

    Midge bar looks similar to the Cowbell but about 10 mm wider and with a diagonal angle at the top of the drops. I like the feel of my bike a lot more with the Midge bar. The road BB7s work great with these RX100 levers.

    Thinking about changing my gearing from 48x18 to 48x20. Most of my riding is relatively flat commuting and workout rides. Rolling hills are OK with the current gearing, but it seems a bit high. What is your gearing on the Pompino?

    These are 25mm Gatorskins, and there is lots of room left. On One website says there is enough clearance for up to 35mm tires. I am tempted to run some MTB wheels on this bike just for fun!

    had the pomp fit solid knobby 43c i would've picked one up. IMO the only thing holding this bike back from ruling the monster cross world.

    sick build! how many on-ones do you have?

    Six or seven, including Inbreds I have assembled for my kids. If I had the money, I would have scooped up some more frames when they had that one-day 50 percent off sale. Would like something with more squish and a slacker head angle. 456 EVO?

    I've tried 35mm with fenders and the rear tire is too tight near the bottom bracket unless you have the wheel to the very end of the drop out.

    I would say 32mm would be max with fenders, 35 without. I'm going to order 28mm to be sure.

    Finished off the Midge bar and shortened the bottom of the front fender. Will help to avoid scooping up leaves in the fall!

    I really like the Midge bar -- very wide and not too deep in the drops. The width helps when climbing and pulling on the bars.

    Overall, I am really enjoying the feel of this steel frame/fork combo and the fixed gear aspect. Still running 48x18 but will try 20.

    Nice - what size is that frame?

    I'm contemplating a similar build with some Ragley Luxy Bars and some Salsa Delgado disc wheels.

    It's a large frame. Fits me well with the longish Planet X stem I have on it. Probably could have gone with an XL frame as I like more room when I am riding.

    Didn't feel right to ask On One if I could swap out the frame because I bought it and then held on to it for a long time before I built it up and got a feel for its size.

    In general, I look at the On One sizing charts and then go one size up. I am 5' 11".

    Im running a S2 2spd hub

    with a 39T chainring and 22T cog (28c tires) and it works out to 65.5 high gear and a 47.4 low gear.

    If you go to a 20T in back you'll be going from a 71.4 to a 64.4 in one leap. If you got a 19T cog you'd end up with 67.6

    Sheldon Browns Gear Calculator is a fun way to see what combos result in what gearing.

    That's a great resource. I have been using On One track cogs and KMC stainless 1/8th inch chains -- $10 apiece. What a bargain.

    Frosty, foggy day for riding the Pompetamine. I sure like the feel of this bike. Feels like I am inside a cockpit, compared to my mountain bikes.

    I am thinking of rigging up a 29er MTB wheel with an Alfine hub to do some long gravel/dirt road riding on the Pomp this summer with cross tires. Was thinking I could switch this wheel over to my steel 29er Inbred for bikepacking, so it would be a dual-purpose wheel.

    I would like to hear from anyone with experience on an Alfine hub.

    Would these frames be suitable for single speed cyclocross? Been looking at this or the Pompino, but would really like the disc brakes.

    I don't know that much about Cyclocross. But there is a lot of clearance for cross tires on the Pompetamine frame, and the brake installation was easy for me (CL on the front and 6-bolt on the back).

    After riding this as a road bike with disc brakes, I don't ever want to go back to rim brakes.
