I have always been a big fan of steel frames and this on one is one of the best. Most everything here is from Craigslist as I was on a serious budget. Still need to swap out a few parts.

Over 1,000 miles off road now, and I still love my Whippet!!!

Next step? I think I'm going to convert it to full rigid, and POSSIBLY 650b at the same time..

How are you going with the TS8?? Had to send my TS6 back to magura for faulty seals.

The Magura TS8 is working perfectly well, and really love it compared to my previous SID.

Can do most things from XC to Enduro, none particularly well..or bad, but sure is fun, only real annoyance is not having tapered head tube.

I know it's not a picture but I have a question. 29er inbred owners. Anyone running longer than 100mm at the front? The gf has one and is contemplating a new fork. Cheers.

I think it really depends on the type of trails you ride. I recently put a 120mm fork on my Scandal, which is the same geometry, and had mixed results. It was really great on flats and descents, but horrible on climbs. The front end would lift and wander on climbs real bad, so I just reduced it internally to 100mm. So now I am patiently waiting for a new Inbred or Scandal designed around 120mm fork and all the other great attributes that we love about On-One.

Just finished building my EVO2 456.

Using a 1x9 drivetrain with a 28t up front and 11-36t in the back. I'm also using a Shadow Plus clutched derailleur with a Travel Agent and a single friction shifter.

It's a bit heavy, but that's mostly because of the fork and wheels.

Just finished. Rides great. 1x9 28t up front, 11-36t cassette, Shadow plus clutch derailleur and a Suntour Power Thumb friction shifter. I originally had platform pedals on it, but chickened out just before the ride and put SPDs on.

33 lbs mostly due to the heavy fork (open batch) and the wheels. But the fork is sooo plush... No surprises. Handles very well.

It's been an eventful year for my old Inbred 26er.

For a few years it was my basic 26" geared hardtail:

But last fall I switched it over to ss to mix things up:

Last winter it inherited a rigid fork, and with a Dirt Wizard up front it became a bit of a baby fatbike:

After a summer of that I realized I really didn't need two ss and a fixie, so it got gears back:

Then a couple of weeks trying out an old woodchipper for fit:

    And finally as a fake-cx:

That'll last for a couple of weeks until the snow falls, and then it will go back to baby-fat mode.

My Inbred 29'r. She's been run 1x9 rigid, SS rigid, 1x10 rigid, now she's a 1x10 with a squishy fork.

Anybody try to use the Planet X, 20% xmas coupon? Was gonna buy a frame/fork/ wheelset today, but the coupon says "not valid" at checkout. Kinda pissed.

Yes, I had an Inbred frame all tee'd up in my cart. I know it was late in the UK when I tried it, but Christmas day was not over in the US yet at 8pm It worked earlier in the day, but I went to the movies only to come back to find this bad news.

I was using the Planet X USA site, so that should have worked at 4:00pm. I sent them an email, so I guess I'll see what they say.

Did they reply back to you? The same thing happened to me when I tried to place an order around 7:00 pm est and the coupon said it was no longer valid. Pretty ****ty, especially for a US based website.

No, they didn't discount the frame. Said the 20% code wouldn't work on my frame as it was already discounted. I had it in my cart on xmas morning, went to see Star Wars, then went to order it and the code didn't work. They must have discovered their mistake and fixed it. Still glad I got it

Very muddy ride today. Got way better traction than my riding buddies on their normal bikes. They kept mentioning how they were just riding in my tire tracks as they'd get better traction there.

Agree, can't beat the price on their frames. Great bikes, I hope sometime in the future that they throw a slack carbon 29er into the lineup there.

I resurrected my Scandal 29er frame and converted it to single speed with the horizontal dropouts. Today was the maiden voyage. The bike is awesome. This is my first SS, and I can see myself spending a lot of time on it. I'm stoked that the rear triangle is big enough to fit the massive 2.4" Goma, which delivers incredible traction and compliance. I previously ran the Scandal geared with 3x10 and 2.25" tires, and it wasn't quite as magical.

^ test fit, but didn't ride. There was 3/16" on either side, which doesn't sound like a lot, but it's about what I have in my fork. But, different rims, or running tubeless could push that either way.

It'll be awhile before I need a new rear tire, but I'm keeping my eye on the 3" Vee trax fatty, which is supposed to be a little undersized: 26+ 3.0" Vee Trax Fatty Seems like it's got a decent amount of tread - a lot more than a knard, but not as much of a slowroller as the DW.
