    Inbred 29er for commuter?

Has anybody made their Inbred 29er into a commute or urban style bike? I was almost ready to buy a Kona Dew Plus but I see somebody local has a used Inbred 29er with carbon fork for sale. Do you think it would be a good starting point?

Sure, it would make a good urban bike. The steel frame soaks up the small rough spots. A rigid fork will keep the head angle steep enough for good handling. Lots of clearance for any size tires. Strong enough to jump curbs and stuff. And another set of wheels would set you up for trails.

I've got one built up rigid with drop bars. I have one set of wheels with mountain bike tires and another set of skinnier wheels with hybrid type tires. I use it a lot for my "ride to the trail" bike. If I'm going to hit the rail trail I use the skinny wheels. If I'm going to hit the real trails I put the mtn wheels on.

For a real urban bike I think I'd sell the carbon fork and put steel on it - wouldn't have to worry about damaging the carbon around the city.

I have an Inbred 29'er with the On-One carbon fork. It would make an excellent commuter!

What he said! I love mine and I have the same setup. though I am thinking about putting a reba on the front of mine for some offroad action. I will post a pic of mine tonight to give you an idea of how it works out.

My son, currently in 8th grade, commutes happily to school on a SS 36x20 Inbred which we built with odd or donated parts for under $300 total.

I use my Inbred 1x8 as a commuter.

The 1x8 drivetrain comes from my old bike.
I have a set of clip-on SKS fenders for rainy weather.
The black thing on the downtube is an Abus Bordo lock.
The fork is a Salsa Cromoto Grande.

The tires are a bit wild for city use.
These are my spare wheels and the tieres are ghetto-tubeless.
Don't want to spend to much time and money on the bike.
    Belgian beer and Scotch whisky.

^ Looks like a fun way to get to/from work. This is one of the few pictures of the "teal" that I've seen that doesn't look straight up blue.

The Inbred does indeed make a great bike for cummuting, singletrack, stair jumping, kid trailer pulling, well, you get my point.

I see this was posted 4 weeks ago, did ya get it?
