Anybody Race their Steel Inbred 29'er?

How do you like it? Where does it tip the scales at?

This weekend I raced Sea Otter and did it on my 26" Leader 510. However, I'm considering upgrading my Inbred 29'er (which is now a SS) to be race ready (with gears and a front suspension fork), simply because I believe the course would be more suited toward the big wheels.

    Give me your thoughts!

with reba and racy tires (crossmark usually) mine was about 24-25 lbs

i loved racing it, comfortable and for terrain around here i was happy to have a bit of extra heft vs. sketchy or fragile feeling...
    what would rainbow unicorn do?

In the current state (Kona P2 fork and heavy, fat-ass Ardent tires, SS) it's a hair over 27lbs. I think I could lose a couple of pounds with the tires alone, but I would also have to tack on a cassette, a granny ring, shifters and derailleurs. I am also leaning towards the Reba fork.

What? Why would you want all that crap hanging off your bike

With the Reba and ardents, mine was 27. I never ran gears or even thought about it...
