Looks like the trial is going to be a long one

    http://www.cnn.com/2013/10/02/world/...car-pistorius/

"Some 107 witnesses are to testify against him". 107 witnesses to a murder that allegedly occurred in the bathroom. Where were all these people standing?

There would have been more but they couldn't fit that many in the bathroom. It was a one in one out standing room only crowd. "All seats were full".

Oscar "Spare me the Details" Pistorius has tossed his cookies a few times in the courtroom (can't say I blame him - the presented evidence has been pretty gruesome and he's probably reliving that horror all over again)

The Jury said the prosecution's arguments didn't have a leg to stand on.

Clearly this is a victory for all men who've ever accidentally mistook their significant other for a burglar while shooting them repeatedly as they screamed for help from behind a locked bathroom door.

That's a weird phenomenon that I don't quite understand. A lot of those notorious murderers get married in jail. Lots of weirdos out there. Makes the OC look like Sesame Street. Or Mr Roger's Neighborhood. Or Captain Kangaroo.

Oscar Pistorius has removed his prosthetic legs in court as part of his defence lawyer's final remarks at his sentencing hearing... I can't believe this case is still going on!

Looking for sympathy, which I do hope he does not get. Stone cold killer, plain and simple.

I found that video very annoying. The guy's an athlete, he can run faster than most people with legs, and he expects us to beleive that without his plastic feet he can barely move? Not buying it. Bet the judge doesn't buy it either.

I bet the judge remembers seeing the video from the first trial of the police interview in his bedroom with him moving around on his stumps very easily.

His sentence was shortened to 6 years when the minimum sentence is 15... They took his legs. So it's a bit lower.

What did I skim in those two articals? Did they reveal what circumstances the judge took in to consideration while she gave him a traffic ticket like sentence?

This guy is a POS who killed his girlfriend full knowing what he was doing. The intruder excuse is just that, an excuse. He murdered her and got away with it.

I don't understand why they keep being so soft on him. How can you give someone a third of the minimum term?

My guess is it's because he was a national hero. It can't be because he keeps weeping, wailing and moaning. That would make me extra annoyed at him for trying to manipulate my emotions.

you killed a human seemed a little chunky in a sentence but however you want to interpret it is okay with me.

Some of the judge's statements seem fair. It's nice to see a human side even if it could be contrived. It does sound more than the benefit of doubt is being given.

Keeping him in jail with the prosthetics is a risk to others. Denying him his "legs" seems cruel and would make him a burden to the prison system.

She also said that he was contrit, he had made attempts to apologise to the family, that he was a very good candidate for rehabilitation and that the she saw no benefit to the "punishment" side on incarceration.

I'm with you GOB, that is an insult of a sentence.

I'm sure there are plenty of lifers that would give up their legs to be let free. It's a cop out, the scum killed another human in cold blood. His excuse of an intruder is BS. Even if it was taken as truth he shot 4 times through a door knowing someone was on the other side. He shot to kill. That's murder and the sentence should reflect that. His sentence of 6 years is a joke just like he is.

Sadly, people kill people all the time with no legal punishment. (Eg, castle law cases, times of war, self defense).

I didn't watch a minute of the testimony, so I can't expand my thoughts as to whether I agree or disagree with the judge's final decision. But in this situation, just like in the vast majority in the world, my opinions simply do not matter at all.

There's never been an explanation why an intruder would be hiding in a bathroom, unless he was waiting for everyone to fall asleep... and then cause he rapin' eee'rrrbody out here!!
