Ha,ha Rod theres no stopping a cat from getting through an electric fence if he wanted to. Besides bobcats are harmless to humans they're just out looking for any small prey. And its amazing to me how healthy this one looks. Apparently dining on the huge rabbit population in the area. And the occasional house cat or chihuahua.

I was riding downhill today and my damn rear brake is squealing. As I'm rounding a corner I hear a loud gobble gobble that sounded a lot like my brakes. My brakes worked as a Turkey call!
I got off my bike and started walking through the woods. It took a while but I finally ran in to 2 big beautiful Turkeys. Unfortunately didn't get a picture of them both together, and only had my cell phone.

Caution these were not taken while riding my bike..

I just took these photos about 10 minutes ago while driving home from work. 4 Big Bull Elk laying in the shade in the middle of town in the 95 degree heat. They were just 30' off the road with numerous cars stopping and taking pictures.

Here's the background on these big bull elk. There was a group of 7 big bulls that hung together in a bachelor herd. All large 6 pointers. Every year they would come into town and hang together for a couple months in the summer. They got the nickname the Magnificent 7. Last year one got killed by a car so the number dropped to 6. There are 4 in this herd so I'm thinking 2 didn't make it through the rough winter and the past hunting season. They are in full velvet and the antlers are only half done growing for the season. By the end of summer their antlered will be twice as large and without velvet. The one photo of the one looking directly at the camera is the Big Boy. He's going to be and probably will be a 7 pointer this year. In the elk world 6 pointers are huge but 7 & 8 are rare and usually become record holders.

DJ, it would have been quite a spectacle if you would have throw her in park, and run out to do some Elk back riding!

I wasn't out riding but these were seen shortly after my ride if that counts.

Some Rocky Mountain Big Horn Sheep. All female Ewes and some just born babies. Unfortunately no big male Rams. I saw them yesterday on my way down the Big Thompson Canyon Colorado.

    Here's my black bear encounter...

I was yelling yo bear after seeing that it had climbed the hillside above me to ensure that it didn't want to come back down again

    Great photo!

Here's some more Big Horns I saw 2 weeks ago. The big ram came right up to within 3' of my driver door. He put his head down like he was going to ram my truck but then turned and walked off the road luckily.

That's awesome man! You were lucky he popped up running away from you instead of toward you! But every time I've run across a bear, they did the same thing - run away.
He looks like he was fast too!

Lucky your camera was on. How much of the time can you keep it on?

I've never heard about the riding in that part of CO. Recommended?

I was probably running 18-20mph when he/she popped up - this was part of a 3000ft descent over about 7 miles - so I was running the camera as I tend to only switch it on when I ride somewhere new and i'm running downhill - no one wants to watch me plod up a hill at 3 mph

For the riding I would not necessarily make it a riding destination but if you are in the area I think you can get some cool rides in (especially if you include Pagosa Springs). The trails are wild and very backcounty-ish and most/all hiking trails allow bikes (if not in wilderness). Lots of ATV trails as well. There may me many hidden gems out there but I think it could take a lot of time to find them. One negative is that a lot of the trails proceed into wilderness as the area is bordered by several and that makes loops tricky. Many rides I think would be out and backs - or loops involving forest roads like the one I did.
