Saw this little guy beside the trail today.

Whoa, Nelly! I turned a corner and was suddenly surrounded.

Glad they were friendly and I didn't spook them...

Riding in the remote nahatlatch valley in the Fraser canyon in B.C Canada in July of 2005 , my riding partner and I stopped at a nice vista of the valley, I went to the edge of the trail and looked down to see 4 grizzly bear, a sow and 3 cubs !! They were almost as big as mom was !!! I paused only long enough to take on pic and we got on our bikes and sprinted down the trail!! We stopped at about 200 m away and watched them come up on the trail snorting and flicking dirt in our direction, man what a rush , it was a beautiful sunny day and the trail was single track heaven, if we were gonna die that day, it would have been a good day to die , I hope you can see them in this pic there way closer than they appear, they were no more than 50 feet away at the time and that's only seconds at grizzly speed!

In the didn't have a camera category:
Too wet to ride, so took a stroll in my neighborhood park late yesterday afternoon. Hiking along, and deep in thought, I kept hearing a sound on the edge of my consciousness -- then suddenly realized it was the sound of migrating geese high overhead. I could hear them but not see them. In the neighborhood walking home with more of the sky visible, I was treated to the sight and sounds of three big flocks of honkers heading south southeast. Can't remember how to tell Canada Geese from Snow Geese on the wing but it is quite wonderful to see them high in the sky in formation.
They were in a "V" formation, but not a balanced one; there was a long line of geese on the east side, with just a few on the west side.
A rare sight for us, so it is always special to see them.

North Creek Trail, Alafia River State Park, Florida. 7-8 ft, I'd guestimate. There was a second in the water a couple of feet from this one.

This was a cool frog we found in the Fall. It was in a park called Klondike that overlooks the Missouri River in Missouri....The frog had camouflage colors of the dried leaves even with the dark veins you see on a dead leaf. I'm thinking in the summer he was as green as grass.

    boxing kangaroos on boxing day

There's been lots of rain recently so quite a few of these around at the moment, but you don't see them boxing very often. The picture was taken by a friend.

    Can you spot them?

They were meandering off Devil's Backbone Trail near the summit at about 9,000 ft. This is the highest mountain in Southern California (tops a little over 10k ft) and actually doable on a mtb but many sections are more of hike-a-bike

From a ride in November along the Murrumbidgee River to Murrangang on the SW slopes of New South Wales.

There was a lot of water in both the roadside and farm dams. I caught this large common Yabbie in the muddy water of a farm dam. Its colouring is appropriate to the water and water weeds.

... and caught this Blue Claw Yabbie in the clearer water of a gravely stream running into the Murrumbidgee. It has been a good year for catching yabbies.

One of the features of riding here is riding amongst road-side grazing ... like this handsome young muscle builder. Have you seen signs like, IF YOU CAN'T CROSS THIS PADDOCK IN 6.5 SECONDS DON"T ENTER ... BECAUSE THIS BULL DOES IT IN 6.6! I always thing of that sign when I ride into herd that are road-side grazing.

... and something less attractive road-side grazing.

    Warren.

Don't have pictures, First time at Diablo, first ride up the gondola I saw 2 black bear cubs running across the trail, and than Momma came out of the woods 10 seconds after them. 200 feet up the trail there were 3 riders coming down on them, I nearly shat myself I thought they were going to be eaten lol

    Great pics!

I'm just getting back into mountain biking after years of road riding, so hopefully I'll see some cats of the wild variety. I take video of the entire ride whenever I take a recreational road or mtb ride, so hopefully I'll see some good stuff.

This isn't a bike ride, but a few years ago some friends and I took a drive up in the mountains at night. We saw a huge mountain lion in the middle of the road. He stared at us for a second or two before running off into the woods. If my friend had hit the brakes instead of slowly driving forward, I might have been able to get video!

We always see deer in the forest, but they run faster than we can ride so it's hard to get a photo of them!
