or maybe it was just some birds.

Not "just some birds". If I saw a pelican on my ride it would be newsworthy.

    Some birds.

Strange coincidence. The most famous murder in that area happened exactly on the spot where I'm standing. The girl was drowned probably right where you see the face.

If nothing else this thread has taught me why Billy Zane is a famous actor, so it's got that going for it.

this little fella jumped of the ground as I came round a corner onto the stump trying to get away, only he failed to notice the stump was about 5' tall so he had nowhere to go. My brother and I got a couple shots then left him to his business, he jumped down and headed of into the scrub. Never seen one in the wild that close before, or on the ground. Was down in SA picking up my new bike...awesome first ride on it!

Went up to Eagle on the Hill. Was up there in 2009 for the first time (this was my second time there, so the place has 100% hit rate for drop bears!) and saw a Koala up in the trees, but first time saw one on the ground. Not being a local it is a real treat seeing them up close like that! He definately had that 'oh, ****!' look about him, was pretty funny. We did not bug him for long, just snapped a couple pics and were on our way.

I was taking a picture of the flower, and just as I snapped it, this bug flew up and stuck its tongue into it.

The insect is not a bumblebee, it is a mimic both in appearance and behavior called the bumblebee moth (Hemaris diffinis), from an order called "clearwing" moths.

Actually, I was, but the purpose of the ride was to take photos of wildflowers. As soon as I started to do that, I noticed there were bugs admiring the same flowers.

Saw these deer yesterday, almost out of camera range.

alongside the San Diego Mission Bay bike path

We see this guy on this same light pole all the time, but he usually flies off before I'm close enough for a cell-phone photo.

After i was done, another guy on a bike stopped and took the same photo. The bird seemed to be enjoying the attention.

A Perente out on the trails, he was a decent sized one as well, about a 1.2m long. Sunbathing on a nice section of singletrack, photo's were taken after he'd scampered off a bit and I gave chase to get some piccies.
