Where's your state on the list..

For six consecutive years, Washington has ranked as the best state to ride in, with high performance in all categories. Despite its steep terrain changes, and perhaps partly because of its active living focus, Colorado ended up at number two. Oregon, with super bike-friendly Portland, came in at number three.

Apart from that, other states such as Delware, Illinois, and Arizona improved considerably in 2013, signaling that there are efforts in some states to make cities and states more bike friendly, and also that they have been successful.
Delaware moved from tenth place to fifth in only one year.

“We’re encouraged to see significant progress in top states like Washington, Delaware, Colorado and Oregon,” says League President, Andy Clarke. “But as the scores clearly highlight, there’s much work to be done in critical areas like infrastructure and planning in every state.”

    1] Washington
    2] Colorado
    3] Oregon
    4] Minnesota
    5] Delaware
    6] Massachusetts
    7] New Jersey
    8] Wisconsin
    9] Illinois
    10] Arizona
    11] Maryland
    12] Michigan
    13] Maine
    14] Utah

Notably, several states with very good weather for bicycling (California, Hawaii, Florida,…) aren’t on the list.

As long as the title doesn't reveal it's actual topic it's not part of fight club.

The Tetons are a state of mind, and this region generally (cycling wise) transcends basically every place on this list.

Ridiculous! Everyone knows that California is the best place to ride. It has the most consistently mild climate which makes year round riding.

Same with Nevada, but we have fewer people, more room, more mountains, a lot less of that pesky stuff called rain.

The list is talking about "bicycle friendly" states - where the governments have made serious efforts to improve the facilities and riding experiences for people road riding and commuting, as well as where drivers are somewhat more sympathetic to sharing the road. The latter part is more subjective, but is what keeps Florida off the list (they have the highest per capita death rate for cyclists). It doesn't necessarily mean that Washington has the best riding - just that the government has made serious efforts to improve the experience.

^ If accurate... DJ just posted a double brain shart, by breaking OC rule #1, and empathizing with roadies.

Yep, pretty much. This list has nothing to do with mountain biking.
