    Whats the current status of..

Rep? aka the start, end, and middle to many a flame war and padding of each other's personal regions?

I'm 99.9% here only for bike talk and didn't play the rep game, but just noticed MTBR decided to show me the names of all the unsigned reps (is this normal?). Did you say something to somebody you shouldn't have?

Edit: Photo removed for threat of smite from the MTBR Gods. Sorry.

Thats my point, i've paid little to no attention to this until now.

Now I'm asking if they originally said these were annoymous rep comments, then all the sudden revealed the names of past reppers?

Maybe you should have asked if screen grabbing and publicizing your rep is a neg repable offense these days. I'm pretty sure it was for one of the administrators.

It's the tone of your opening remarks that dictate our comments-pretty negative so what do you expect. And screen grabbing your rep doesn't help at all. That's poor form in my book. I consider those remarks and reps by others to be private communication.

I agree, but seeing the neg rep comment I gave him back on August 13th made me laugh.

I got some pretty funny -reps back in the day-oh well.

about an hour before this thread was made, I got this +rep from the OP:

MTBR decided to reveal your name on an unsigned rep you gave me a while back. +Rep for you "Thread: Short rants. i hate it when people ***** about the neg rep they get. unsigned by yours truly because i dont want to get a message of *****ery from y"

tough crowd response is the result of mixed messages

Mixed messages? I just did that because your neg rep comment made me laugh as well.

Still actually waiting for an answer to my simple question - is it new that they revealed the names of all reppers (both positive and negative)? I'm assuming some members out there said some much worse things to other members via these comments and thought it was "anonymous". Again, not earth shattering, but sparked my curiousity.

Also, if the screenshot of the rep is against the rules in any way, I'd be happy to take it down. Didn't know that it was.

MTBR is vague in that crossing into grey areas is also dangerous. for me, I had considered doing the same when it was first published-but recognized it as a grey area for what is posted in this community-so I think keeping it to yourself is the best thing to do around here.

names have been attached for at least 5 months now.

story behind my -rep comment is that when I had signed it in the past, I would get messages from people-sometimes long winded ones full of what I called '*****ery'

No worries ehigh. I don't get offended that easily.

Well, I'm certainly not looking to get in trouble by the bigwigs. This was simply a post night ride / bored / dazed / confused 3:45am post. Photo removed, we've had our fun.

Your OP could be seen as troll baiting and cheap-shotting around here; hence the rough reception. If you are truly curious, you could dig around the OC forums from the days of 12/20/12 through the first couple weeks of the new year. You can find plenty of information. Simply google "reputation" and "mtbr" and you should get your fill. Few people here want to open that can of worms back up.

Screenshot not against rules, just poor form. Makes it look like you're trying to embarrass people. Or troll.

What's this "rep" stuff anyway? Never heard of it before....

It's this system where other users approve or disapprove of your comments. If you make enough contributions you could potentially get rep power in the billions.

I tried to fix that for you, but it looks like I've gotta spread it around.
I've made some bad decisions like taking the gears off my bike. So here's the warning: Do not as I say, nor as I do.
