    Vanity plate of the day

Saw this vanity plate yesterday on the way back from my mtb ride:

    BEASCAR

I'm still chuckling a day later...

I read it as meaning the car belongs to someone named Bea. "Be a scar" seems like a stretch to me. Did you read it as something else?

You're surely right, but it looked to me like "be a star" changed to "be a scar" by someone who dislikes high-risk sports.

It's similar to the common "break a leg" saying before someone goes on stage.

This one is "be a scar" before riding the trails, particularly in AZ where 5" rocks are considered smooth.

    Ok, I tried.

OK, I knew there had to be more to it than I saw at first read.

At 16 years old, my long-haired biker-type friend bought a brand new Beemer. He couldn't drive it a mile without getting pulled over... until he put the plate "STOLEN" on it. He never got pulled over again.

I've got a really nice scar on my left calf caused by my broken handlebar going into it.

In Britland a plate is forever, and there are still plates out there from waaay back: RR1 for instance, that is, or was, owned by Rolls Royce, and if it went on the market would probably sell for hundreds of thousands. Anything with initials or low numbers sells expensive: for me there is CHR1S, or for someone else: 51MON etc etc. My old neighbors in England were vanity plate dealers, Russell and Fran Marks, and their cars were plated RM1 and FM1. Both worth many hundreds of thousands... silly when the plate is worth more than your house... Now when the govt. issue new plates, they weed out anything too sexy, (L 1 KME), and sell anything that could even remotely be construed as 'personal'.

He probably got the budget version where they use a knitting needle up through the eye socket, so no scars.

Sounds a bit like what we used to have to do to frogs before dissecting them in science class at school: slide a long needle thing into the base of their skulls and wiggle it around a bit...

Bummer, I figured with the wee small brain... they'd have to cut the whole top off to get at it.

When I was in high school a guy had a 1970' Mustang Mach I. It was white with red stripes and red interior. Just a pristine example of such a ride. He was a year ahead of me and was a seniior and a star athlete. Apparently mommy and daddy bought him the car Back then everybody else drove beat up old bomber cars.

His plate said MUF DVR. I wonder what mommy and daddy thought about that one.

looking at the first pic, i was wondering if that was your stomach or your knee...

stomach was a scary thought as it successfully concealed your weenie, assuming you had one... luckily the second picture helped out a bit...
