Unable to let it go. Must get in one last shot, seemingly your S.O.P.

"Peace on earth goodwill to man" is, I believe from scripture, and refers to mankind, as in the human race.

May the people of Sandy Hook & Newtown find peace, and please mods, bin this thread.

    No, not LOL-ing at all.
You're promoting both politics, and 2nd amendment rights - which are against forum rules.

Have friends that daily drive past the Sandy Hook/Newtown exit, and now cringe.
The town will forever be remembered for the horror inflicted by a mentally unstable person who went untreated.
My heart bleeds for them, to lose someone dear is painful, to lose a child unimaginable.

Get it, now? This is why I asked it stop, yet you continue, and now I will request it be binned.
Worse still, it's the holidays, and your agenda lacks compassion, and ignores the suffering of people that will never recover.

    May Santa leave you coal..

lol, what could have been done? what could have been done? To this stupid uneducated arrogant pot smoking hippie, look at countries such as Australia, England, China etc etc etc and see how many school shootings those countries are dealing with ever since tighter gun control. Why so much arrogance and stupidity, the answer is slapping you across the face. The heads of government are not smart/intelligent enough to come up with a solution, thats why they need to look abroad for a solution.

That's ironic, and that's cold. Reminds me of something so cold, like when Ole Yukon Cornelius licks his pick axe to taste for gold, or is that silver? You might as well say Merry Fckin Cristmas. No wait that was silver and gold, yeah, siver and gold. Come on everybody let's sing it, Silver and gold, Silver and Gold.....

Btw, I agree that we should welcome peace to this, but this time it looks like many won't let it go until something gives. Blame it on whatever, just seems to be the way it is.

Wow! I seem to be one of very few here who is proposing some sort of rational change, not to mention some compassion and love in this time. The depth of feeling against these sentiments by some of you sickos is amazing! You would think that I was proposing mandatory emasculation. Sad, sad, people. I shall go back to my Koolaid, it tastes a lot better to me than your Vitriol.

Merry Christmas! My thought are with the sorry victims of these hateful crimes.

Just because somebody doesn't approve of banning guns, it doesn't mean they lack compassion. This tragedy affected the nation and in some ways the world in knowing that their own children are vulnerable and they can not protect them every step of their life.

Some people believe that banning guns is the answer and other know it is not and opens the door to Pandoras box in many ways people can not fathom.

That being said, I will agree with that if you do not like the direction this thread has headed, just don't read it. No one is forcing you to open it and read the opinions of others. This whole idea many people in this country have about having something banned just because we find it offensive needs to stop. People need to grow up and start taking responsibility of their own actions.

I all fairness I came up with a list of what I felt were good ideas and it pretty much fell on deaf ears. Nobody seems to want to come up with useful input, they just want to cut down those with differing views then themselves.

Maybe they need restated, this thread is a mess. Did they include background checks for all sales as that seems like a brainer?

I think they should make it mandatory to take a handgun and/or riffle course before buying that respective item. Teach people safe storage so they don't throw them upstairs and act like a trigger lock that someone can cut off after they steal an armful of guns is "safe". Mandatory parent/child safety class for households with firearms. You can't get in a car without a licence and proving skills/knowledge, make owning weapons the same way. The more educated the person is on firearms the less likely the weapons are to fall into the wrong hands or end up being misused.

Obviously mental health services need to be improved, I'd maybe even go as far as yearly mental health screenings for gun owners until age 30 (16-30 is when schizophrenia usually shows up) if they can come up with a way to fund it.

There are a lot of things that can be done to help but I do not feel like an assault weapons ban based on how a gun looks or limiting to small capacity mags that you can quickly and easily swap out is not going to do a damn thing for reducing the violence.
I'm open to hearing any other solutions that people think will work.

How about this: THE MAN is making us buy heath care. How about making everyone carry a gun. We could call them personal protection devices. I'll bet anything, that would put an end to 99.9% of crime.

Good ideas, if implemented I think we'd be ok with assault riffles and 30 round magazines.

But the rightwinger in me (see, I'm only 50 percent liberal) thinks all this fingerprinting and licenses will just make it easier for the government to disarm us if or when they decide it's time. Maybe it wouldn't be for 50 years, but you never know.

Some of your ideas sound a bit socialist for me.

That's were this country is heading, because to many people are to stupid to think or take care of themselves, and to be accountable for their own actions.
