    Time for a sub-classification yet?

    Sub-Heading:

(slightly tongue-in-cheek post so chill )

In light of the fact that we are now seeing Golfers on 29ers, driven by Strava, increasingly taking the trails, with the ensuing dumbing down/paving/sanitizing etc that inevitably follows, is it time for a further sub-category of the cycling whole: "Off Road Cycling" alongside, (or more accurately 'below'), "Mountain Biking"?!?!

Thoughts, poison-pen letters etc gratefully appreciated!

I get it. It's like the difference between people that go Wheelin and "off-roading" in a vehicle. If you call it "off-roading" then you are probably a city slicker that bought a Jeep so you could go down unmaintained logging roads, but would get stuck in mud 2 inches deep.

So you're saying give the "city slickers" of the mtn bike world that go "off-road cycling" their own category. Sounds good to me.

What, little kids that fall off their bikes?

    Time for a sub-classification yet?

Considering I've never ridden on a true mountain, I'm all for it.

I also find it ironic that the vast majority and prestige of riding a bike on a mountain is done on a road bike...typically going up a very steep grade that the average person would struggle just to walk up.

I always wondered what it was like to be a minority.

Off Camber should have a sub-classification. One for word-association type threads and another for Off Camber threads that are still related to biking.

And another sub forum dedicated to a rant about another thread that turns into a word association thread. We could call this sub forum "thread conversion" forum.

While we are at it, I would put in a request for a grilled cheese sub-forum. Depending on how this week shapes up, I might also request a why-can't-it-stay-warm sub-forum.

You feel burnt and crispy on the outside, and soft, gooey, and runny on the inside?

Sincew it's Cinco de Mayo, how about a Mexican flavored recipe?

    Mexican Style Beef and Rice

    1 lbs ground beef
1 cup long grain brown rice
16 oz Salsa (I like Pace Hot Restaurant Style Picante)
1 15 oz can Black Beans in Sauce
    1 1/2 cups Mexi-Blend Shredded Cheese

Crumble and brown the ground beef in a large sauce pan on medium-high heat for 5-7 minutes or until all pinkness is gone. Drain, and return to pan. Stir in rice and 2 cups of water. Bring to a boil, and then reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 10 minutes.

Stir in salsa and beans, cover, and cook for 8 more minutes.

Sprinkle with cheese, cover, and cook for 3 more minutes.

    Enjoi!

It's not stereotyping. Stereotyping is considered racist. So you call it profiling, and that's perfectly fine.

Going back to the original topic... I use "Off road biking" all the time at work, trying to avoid the "THERE'S NO MOUNTAINS IN FLORIDA!" response. I usually then have to go into a long story about abandoned phosphate mines and rock quarries.
Worked at Trek/Fisher dealer 2008-2013. Only a little biased.

The only rocks I remember in FL were an entirely different kind altogether... imported...
