    South Park

There has to be a South Park thread on OC, but I'm not about to dig around. For anyone with a youngster, the episode on 'Minecraft' the other evening was a ball buster.
Life will pound away where the light don't shine, son...

I've been through South Park Colorado where the shows writers originated. Do you think they are millionaires now. I just had a "why didn't I think of that" moment.

I'm not a big fan of the later years but those first 3, 4 or 5 seasons were a real riot.

If I were a celebrity of any type, I sure wouldn't want to get into those guys' crosshairs. Does anyone remember the one about Stan's dad being proud of his big poop?

I wonder what Katie Couric did to piss them off?

Little factoid I just learned recently.....Bill Hader (who I think is one of the funniest of the recent generation SNL'ers) is a regular on the SP writing staff.

Speaking of behind the scenes I saw some sort of a making of South park once and it was interesting to see just how hard it is to put a single episode together in just a few days.

Bill Hader is a funny guy so I bet he fits right in.

I think I saw that. It covered how you could read about some major headlining news on Monday, and then watch it parodied that Thursday on SP. The quickest turn-around time in all of television.

They do have their act together on how to run a tee vee show.

Hawg, I can't believe you don't like South Park.

It's like the OC of TV.

One thing I really like about SP was how they would meld two topics together. The Meteor Shower episodes did this. It had the government overreach angle (Waco, TX) and the latent homosexuality between Randy and Gerald ("just want to experiment"). Throw in the Charlie's Angels element and it was a real laugh fest.

They do have some brilliant writing. If you can get past the (hilarious) crudeness, it is very politically charged.

Agreed, the satire can be biting but if you just go for the crudeness then you could miss out on the real statements. They will take on anybody.

    Well, if we must........

I'm a long time SP fan, going right back to the original episode. They have lost their edge, but its still one of the best shows on cable TV.
Its all Shits and Giggles until somebody Giggles and Shits
