Cool-blue Rhythm Song Lines / Lyrics ..Stuck In Your Head"

Post up a favorite song line / lyric or one thats not so much that gets stuck in your head.

One that has been in my head for a few days now is...

"There are many here among us who think that life is but a joke"

From the song All Around The Watchtower by Jimmy Hendrix.
JIMI HENDRIX LYRICS - All Along The Watchtower

My wife and I just got tickets to a NOFX concert for this summer so I have been listening to them a lot and got this one stuck in my head.

"Possessions never meant anything to me"

    Linoleum

Possessions never meant anything to me
    I'm not crazy
Well that's not true, I've got a bed, and a guitar
And a dog named Bob who pisses on my floor
    That's right, I've got a floor
So what, so what, so what?
I've got pockets full of kleenex and lint and holes
    Where everything important to me
Just seems to fall right down my leg
    And on to the floor
    My closest friend linoleum
    Linoleum
Supports my head, gives me something to believe
That's me on the beachside combing the sand
    Metal meter in my hand
Sporting a pocket full of change
That's me on the street with a violin under my chin
Playing with a grin, singing gibberish
That's me on the back of the bus
    That's me in the cell
    That's me inside your head
    That's me inside your head
    That's me inside your head

    I want a new duck
    One with big webbed feet
One that knows how to wash my car
And keep his room real neat

    I want a new duck
    A mallard I think
One that won't make a mess of my house
Or build a nest in the bathroom sink

Had some NOFX in my head just the other day:

    Makin' sure that
    The garden grows
    Yeah, yeah, yeah
    water the yard
    With a garden hose

Very cool Gordon. I wasn't sure who they were until Cornfield posted. So I played both videos and I recognized them. Should be a killer concert. I like the spoof off in Cornfields video.

"Song sung blue, weeping like a willow. Song sung blue, sleeping on my pillow."

I'm singing this in my head because we currently have mountain lion attack weather here outside. Dense fog and I'm about to go hit the trails where they are known to roam.

If I should not return, then farewell to all.

Yesterday evening 'sproket and I attended a BBQ at a friend's house. One of the guests was celebrating a birthday. The host brought out a cake. The leftover cake was placed on the picnic table. After a while we felt a few raindrops and the guests went back into the house, except for 'sprocket , the host and I. We stayed out until it rained harder and we need to go inside....
I grabbed the cake and started sing loudly as I entered....

MacArthur's park is melting in the dark
All the sweet green icing flowing down
Someone left the cake out in the rain
I don't think that I can take it 'cause it took so long to bake it
And I'll never have that recipe again, oh, nooooooooooo!

Everyone started to join in and sang along... True story it was magical

Great song and it has always been one of my favorites. Unfortunately it was ruined for me when I attended a funeral. An X girlfriends sisters husband died from cancer and the she played it at the funeral. It was touching and every time I hear it those memories flood back. Great guy and I was lucky to get to spend a lot of time with him in his last year of life.

Having Pandora play "Picture Book" by the Kinks, followed by "Warning" from Green Day. The tune is now stuck. I suppose I could always play "She's Tight" by Cheap Trick followed by "Talk Dirty To Me" by Poison.

    Mötley Crüe
    "Kickstart My Heart"

    When I get high
    I get high on speed
    Top fuel funny car's
    A drug for me
    My heart, my heart
    Kickstart my heart
    Always got the cops
    Coming after me
    Custom built bike doing 103
    My heart, my heart
    Kickstart my heart

The song is about Nikki Sixx overdosing on heroin and was dead. His heart stopped, the paramedics gave him a shot of adrenaline straight to the heart and restarted his heart.

LOL. Thanks, Corn. That about sums it up, except I don't have a girl to do in Marysville

Honestly I had been getting burnt out of trucking lately, but the video actually made me looking forward to getting back on the road. Weird.

Don't be sorry I know Bob Dylan wrote it but I was referring to Jimmy Hendrix singing it.

    Home! Home again!
I like to be here when I can
When I come home cold and tired
It's good to warm my bones beside the fire

    Far away, across the field
    Tolling of the iron bell
    Calls faithful to their knees
To hear the softly spoken magic spell
    life is... "All About Bikes"...

Led Zeppelin - Hey Hey What Can I Do - YouTube

    LED ZEPPELIN LYRICS

"Hey Hey What Can I Do"

Wanna tell you about the girl I love
    My she looks so fine
She's the only one that I been dreamin' of
Maybe someday she will be all mine
I wanna tell her that I love her so
I thrill with her every touch
I need to tell her she's the only one I really love

I got a woman, wanna ball all day
I got a woman, she won't be true, no
I got a woman, stay drunk all the time
I said I got a little woman and she won't be true

Sunday morning when we go down to church
See the menfolk standin' in line
I said they come to pray to the Lord
With my little girl, looks so fine
In the evening when the sun is sinkin' low
Everybody's with the one they love
I walk the town, Keep a-searchin' all around
Lookin' for my street corner girl

I got a woman, wanna ball all day
I got a woman, she won't be true, no no
I got a woman, stay drunk all the time
I said I got a little woman and she won't be true

In the bars, with the men who play guitars
Singin', drinkin' and rememberin' the times
My little lover does a midnight shift
She followed around all the time
I guess there's just one thing a-left for me to do
Gonna pack my bags and move on my way
Cause I got a worried mind
Sharin' what I thought was mine
Gonna leave her where the guitars play

I got a woman, she won't be true, no no
I got a woman, wanna ball all day
I got a woman, stay drunk all the time
I got a little woman and she won't be true

(Hey hey what can I do)

I said she won't be true

(Hey Hey, What can I say?)

Hey hey, what can I do
I got a woman, she won't be true
    Lord, hear what I say
I got a woman, she won't be true.

    She said luck is what you make it;
You just reach out and take it.
    Now, let's dance a while.

    She said nothing ever happens
if you don't make it happen.
And if you can't laugh, then smile.

    Driving down the interstate
    Running thirty minutes late
Singing Margaritaville and minding my own
Some foreign car driver dude with the road rage attitude
Pulled up beside me talking on his cell phone
He started yelling at me like I did something wrong
He flipped me the bird an' then he was gone

    Some beach...

Don Henley: If Dirt Were Dollars. This song has a a bunch of lines that always stick with me:

I was flyin' back from lubbock
I saw jesus on the plane
    ...or maybe it was elvis
You know, they kinda look the same

    ---

She just looked at me, uncomprehendingly
Like cows at a passing train

    ---

    Whistling past the graveyard
    Nothing can go wrong

This 'un's been running thru my head:

Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun.
    Shine on you crazy diamond.
Now there's a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky.
    Shine on you crazy diamond.
You were caught on the crossfire of childhood and stardom,
    blown on the steel breeze.
Come on you target for faraway laughter,
come on you stranger, you legend, you martyr, and shine!
You reached for the secret too soon, you cried for the moon.
    Shine on you crazy diamond.
Threatened by shadows at night, and exposed in the light.
    Shine on you crazy diamond.
Well you wore out your welcome with random precision,
    rode on the steel breeze.
Come on you raver, you seer of visions,
come on you painter, you piper, you prisoner, and shine!

Gives me shivers every time I 'hear' it in me head...
    It's all Here. Now.

Axl Rose Responds to List Calling Him 'World's Greatest Singer'

Axl Rose Responds to List Calling Him 'World's Greatest Singer'

Guns N' Roses Frontman Axl Rose has responded to an unscientific, albeit virally popular, list of "The World's Greatest Singers," which placed him in the top spot. The list claimed he had a range that spanned nearly seven octaves, with his lowest note allegedly appearing in the 2008 Chinese Democracy song "There Was a Time" and his highest in his cover of the Dead Boys' "Ain't It Fun," which appeared on the group's 1994 covers album "The Spaghetti Incident?". He said that he found the recognition flattering and humbling, according to Spin, though he wouldn't top his own list of the greatest singers.

Where Did Axl Rose Rank on Rolling Stone's List of the 100 Greatest Singers?

"If I had to say who I thought the best singers were, I'd say first that I don't know there's a definitive answer as in my opinion it's subjective, and second that my focus is primarily rock singers," he told Spin. "That said, I enjoy Freddie Mercury, Elvis Presley, Paul McCartney, [Nazareth singer] Dan McCafferty, Janis Joplin, Michael Jackson, Elton John, Roger Daltrey, Don Henley, [Electric Light Orchestra frontman] Jeff Lynne, Johnny Cash, Frank Sinatra, [jazz singer] Jimmy Scott, Etta James, Fiona Apple, [Pretenders frontwoman] Chrissie Hynde, Stevie Wonder, James Brown and a ton of others (predominantly Seventies rock singers) and would rather hear any of them anytime rather than me!"

Guns N' Roses are currently in the middle of a 12-date residency at Las Vegas' Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. In April, Rose was honored at the Revolver Golden Gods Awards with a Lifetime Achievement Award and performed with his band. While there, guitarist Richard Fortus told The Associated Press the group was "working on stuff." He said he hoped the band would have new music "in the next year."

Didn't Waters pen those and othern lyrics in tribute to the band's original lead, Sid Barret?

Anyway, they did some damned fine work, and some of their instrumental sections just pop up in me head when I'm grinding up a long, taxing fire road climb.

Yup... Syd was the original Floyd 'lead', if that could ever be said about him. he wrote some truly amazing stuff, and I wonder where they would have been if had stayed with it. Sadly he passed away a few years ago, living quietly in Cambridge UK with the detritus of a most-likely LSD exacerbated schizophrenia. There is a definite watershed between pre and post Syd in Pink Floyd. Both eras are unique in different ways. There is no comparison between 'Set the controls for the heart of the sun' and 'Wish you were here' for instance, but both are classics.

Puddle of Mudd - "She Hates Me"

This song has many memorable lyrics, but this is the refrain. First time I heard this song was when I saw these guys in concert. You could see how the lyrics resonated with a large segment of the audience.

    She fuc%ing hates me
    trust
    she fuc%ing hates me
    la la la love
    I tried too hard
and she tore my feelings like I had none
    and ripped them away

Ha,ha I told you it's all about masturbation and squinting. Pretty funny and how many people know that.

And now the last couple days it's been this >>>>>

    Travelling in a fried-out Kombi
On a hippie trail, head full of zombie
I met a strange lady, she made me nervous
She took me in and gave me breakfast
    And she said:

"Do you come from a land down under
Where women glow and men plunder
Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder
You better run, you better take cover."

Buying bread from a man in Brussels
He was six foot four and full of muscle
I said, "Do you speak-a my language?"
He just smiled and gave me a Vegemite sandwich
    And he said:

"I come from a land down under
Where beer does flow and men chunder
Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder
You better run, you better take cover."

Lying in a den in Bombay
With a slack jaw, and not much to say
I said to the man, "Are you trying to tempt me?
Because I come from the land of plenty."
    And he said:

"Oh! Do you come from a land down under (oh yeah yeah)
Where women glow and men plunder
Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder
You better run, you better take cover."

Rick Rolling is a dopey internet fad where people in forums such as this post a bogus link that sounds like it will take you to one place but in reality takes you to the video for that crappy Rick Ashley or whoever he is song. He was popular waaaaay back in the 80's.

Too many good ones in this song to just quote the one so here are all of the lyrics

This is recreation, set your station, and get your place in
A comfy seat, pump this beat, Pressure will set the occasion,
For your entertainment I work hard on my flows,
This scene is full of falling MCs I wear hardhats to shows,
And every hip hop head's a critic, cos some hit the stage hard,
But couldn't get these arseholes open at a gay bar,
    It's a comedy festival; they're so unintelligible,
Can't work out if they got peas for brains, or they're just vegetables,
It's sounds pathetic as me being anorexic,
I do damage like a paralytic, paramedic with no anaesthetic,
Girls shake my hand, guys want to hug me it's a worry,
If I forgot your name I'm sorry, you're probably pretty ugly,

I'm scared of getting old, so when it comes D-Day,
I'm a thank you all for dissing me, then say something clichéd,
And when I'm dead and buried I want you in ‘Life Be In It' shirts,
    At my cemetery singing…

    [Chorus]
Hilltop Hoods and we're coming up,
So step on up if you're dumb enough
Hilltop Hoods and we're coming up,
So step on up if you're dumb enough.

    [Suffa]
People chant the chorus when they hear it, Yo it's on,
You rise like a tsunami, when you feel it; it's the bomb,
I'll make origami of your lyrics,
Geez that's good Suffa, what is it? It's a swan,

I got the **** to bomb MCs back to the Stone Age,
On stage, I'll get you out your seat quicker than road rage,
I take them all from beat jackers to backpackers,
With tracks fat as ****, I ran amok on these wak rappers,
But then it happened. What happened? What I thought could,
I screwed all these MCs, yeah? Then it got awkward,
    It got weird didn't it…
You don't wanna see me anymore,
Oi Suffa you can't sing, yeah I can't even hum a tune,
But I make this crowd bounce like bedsprings on a honeymoon,

Come and do your best but it's still not good enough,
Suff is rough I'm with the…

    [Chorus]
Hilltop hoods and we're coming up,
So step on up if you are dumb enough,
Hilltop hoods and we're coming up,
So step on up if you are dumb enough.

    [Suffa & Pressure]
From the hilltops in the Andes, to the Rockies in Canada,
We infecting mics like Tommy did Pamela,
They gassed in the head, that trash you said was pure jealousy,
Like ‘Left Foot, Right Foot's an invitation to step to me,
You're loosing you footing, you need some Velcro on them Shell toes,
In fights I'm throwing rhymes, in rhyme fights I'm throwing elbows,
I move a crowd like stolen goods, so try and get a hold when,
You couldn't move your **** with a diarrhoea tic colon,

I already told them, the hills are impassable, impossible,
The truth hurts; this rhyme will put you in hospital,
Break it down like a molecule, we burning like fossil fuel,
    I'm something of a phenomenon - I'm phenomenal,
These rappers they don't wanna **** with Suff,
You better turn off your mic, unless you're dumb enough,
Cos we're running up on stage from night until the sun is up,
So run amok you're with the…

Hilltop hoods and we're coming up,
So step on up if you are dumb enough,
Hilltop hoods and we're coming up,
So step on up if you are dumb enough,
Hilltop hoods and we're coming up,
So step on up if you are dumb enough,
Hilltop hoods and we're coming up,
So step on up if you are dumb enough.

Man, it's been in my head for weeks,

So just how far down do you wanna go
We can talk it out over a cup of Joe
And you can look deep into my eyes like I was a supermodel
    Uhh huh
And if you no longer go for a gap that exists, you are no longer a racing driver. A. Senna

    I'm not in love
    So don't forget it
It's just a silly phase I'm going through
    And just because
    I call you up
Don't get me wrong, don't think you've got it made
I'm not in love, no no, it's because..

Half the songs on Guardians of the Galaxy are stuck in my head.

I heard this song this morning and it's been in my head all day. Listen to it all the way through and get back with me in a day or so.

We've got a new "alternative" radio station here in town that plays some decent stuff...then:

    <iframe width="640" height="480" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/sxSEW3sUitA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Why is it that only the bad songs seem to get stuck in your noodle??

I haven't heard that song for awhile. San Diego stations played it to death. I don't think I've heard it since moving back to Colorado. Great song I always liked it. I think most guys have had a girlfriend that they can telate to that song.

This has been going through my head for the past couple days. There is another thread asking what goes through your head when riding - this weekend, it has been this and Overseer Overture

Critique Oblique from A Passion Play - Jethro Tull

Critic of the black and white
    It's your first night
The passion play gets in the way
    Spoils your insight
Tell me how the baby's made
    How the lady's laid
Why the old dogs howl with sadness
The blue thing in the ball
Leaves naught but a bloody footprint
On the memory of last summer's trip to Europe
Did you buy a passport from the Queen?
And your little sister's immaculate virginity
    Wings away on the bony
Shoulder of a young horse named George
Who stole surreptitiously into her geography revision
The examining body examined her body

Ladmo you'll be happy to know that there's another huge Jethro Tull fan amongst us. WV_Bob has expressed his enthusiasm about him.

Saw Tull around 1973 and again in 75 or so, then again maybe 7 - 8 years ago. Always put on a good show. The most recent show, right in the middle of the signature guitar solo in Aqualung the power to the stage cut out. After they got that sorted out, the band picked up the song right where they left off. I was hoping for an entire replay of Aqualung - didn't happen. Martin Barre has always been one of my favorite guitar players.
