    Social Media Thread

I'm an Instagram fan. There is something about the integration of the twitter like hash tagging with photos that makes for an enjoyable experience. The videos are a nice touch, too.

I have yet to figure out google+. It just is a non-starter for me.

It seems so pretentious to me

whereas Twitter has useful tags, like #HurricaneSandy

^ Instagram is just like twitter wrt the hash tags. I'm more visual, so I would rather see a picture instead of a few hundred characters. Search #mountainbike to see an example.

My wife also uses a specific hashtag plus her user name to give her blog a photo stream.

I also like that strava will display Instagram photos the match up with the date and times of your rides.

Ps--go to one of the many Instagram web search engines and search for #hurricanesandy. There are some cool pictures.

I use the Facebook quite often. Since my entire family is back in South Dakota it gives me an opportunity to share things with them visually, and vice versa.. Facebook or any social media for that matter is a scary thing if not used correctly. I find myself preaching the importance of this to younger people. I try to explain to them that EVERYTHING you post will be there "online" forever. So the "hey look at me hitting this bong" photos can and will come back to bite you. ~end rant

I just use F'bok to stay in touch with my family across the world, and a couple of old mates in England. Strictly nobody else. All anyone seems to discuss on it is how the hangover feels, or that they're in the pub. Is that just my dysfunctional associates? I don't use anything else, I think Twitter is plain moronic, and I don't know what a hashtag or instagram is. That is ok with me...
