I guess I've never understood why making a new thread of of an original, makes sense.

see, this thread, all about bikes, and NASCAR - there was nothing wrong (i.e. shlt goin off rails by trollers) and a new thread get's added to the clutter.

I would love to hear why starting a new thread that has the exact same purpose and intent is a good idea!

I really would - I don't fcuking get it - and I'm a pretty smart guy (so the voices have told me)
    Honestly... ahh I give up

It's a good idea because this is OC. Nothing makes sense here, nothing matters. This is like being everywhere all at once. It's Bozo, the clown's fun house. Not to be taken seriously, not to be read between the lines. It's a a big goof balls joint. No rules (within reason) and nobody tells anyone what to do. It's like being drunk or high. It's a happy place. It's where we go to let go of reality...

    So here are my thoughts.

    1. Why volumes? Just like printed press, using volumes / issues and/or time groupings is a logical way of organizing text in the current. It also makes it easier to find it when you search for past content.

    2. For threads that are essentially random thoughts, it think it is a good idea to toss them on occasion. Why? Sometimes there are things that are commentaries on how things are at the moment they were written. Also, since they sort of get bounced around with each post, your don't really read them top to bottom anyway. You can jump to the end and catch up if necessary. In this sense, there isn't anything lost if a new thread is started.

    3. There is something cleansing about tossing out the old too. Much like your taxes, holding on to the documents forever doesn't really do anybody any good. Some threads have gotten into a rut and starting fresh is an effective redirect.

    4. Some things are simply time sensitive. The AV forum I used to participate on used to have threads on a show that spanned seasons and other threads for a season. The season specific threads were so much more useful, particularly if you jump into a past season with Netflix or something like that.

So, what I'm trying to say, is there is some reasonably reasons to do it. So, I hope this was helpful.
