    Snack Time

    I've been making meals at home more often than eating out lately.I have a good number of go to meals that I enjoy,but am lacking in the in between snacks that are quick to make when hunger strikes.What are your favorites,and what do you keep on hand to curb your hunger in a pinch?

    A few that I eat regularly:

    Hard boiled egg with a drop of 1000 Island

    Mix of honey roasted peanuts,raisins,and white chocolate chips

    carrot sticks and Ranch.

    I don't have much of a sweet tooth like I did when I was younger,guess that's a good thing.

    Aside from the chocolate chips mixed in with my GORP,I just don't crave things like doughnuts and chocolate.There's a gallon of ice cream in the freezer that's been there for a month or two.

    I'm addicted to dark chocolate. Milk chocolate I don't even touch anymore. I buy La petete dark chocolate covered butter wafers and Pepperage Farms double dark chocolate chunk with pecan cookies. And all fruits, mostly bananas, apples and cantaloupe. And all nuts especially dark chocolate covered almonds.....yum.

    Nuts like peanuts, cashews, almonds.

    Any fruit but usually ends up apples, oranges and bananas.

    Melons at times.

    Hmm, I'm pretty vanilla but that's how I roll.

    Thanks for all the replies! I was hoping to see some more creative snack ideas that use ingredients one would normally keep on hand.I've been stocking up on groceries and want to try new combinations to mix things up and keep me eating at home.Here are a few that sound really good From foodnetwork.com:


    Apple Quesadillas
    Melt some butter in a skillet, then lay a flour tortilla in the pan and top with grated cheddar and thinly sliced apple on one side. Fold the tortilla in half and cook until golden on both sides. Cut into wedges.

    Caramel Popcorn
    Melt 1/3 cup butter with 1 tablespoon honey and a pinch of salt. Toss with 12 cups popcorn and 1 cup pecans. Spread on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake 15 minutes at 325 degrees F, tossing. Cool.

    Granola Bars
    Melt 2 tablespoons butter in a saucepan with 1/3 cup each honey and brown sugar, and a pinch of salt. Mix in 2 cups rolled oats, 1 cup each chopped nuts and dried fruit, and 2 tablespoons wheat germ. Press into a parchment-lined 8-inch-square pan and bake 30 minutes at 300 degrees F. Cool, then cut into bars.

    I just eat twice what I should at dinner and I am not hungry till noon the next day. Snackwise, sunflower seeds work for me.

    Peanut butter is usually my go to snack along with bananas and any in season fruit.

    A slice or two of bread topped with olive tapenade (or bruschetta topping) and Swiss cheese.

    Otherwise, donuts, muffins, hot dogs, etc.
