I guess is hard to keep up with all posts but this one is surprising.

Maybe it was an issue similar to Picard, and it will get corrected.

So I have learned through some PMs that the drag racing guy is semi-local to me. His identity has been verified as someone who's mentally challenged. Other forum members have encountered him on the trail and at a shop. I don't think that's an excuse for poor behavior, but it probably does make the mods think harder about how to handle him.

Lynx? I didn't see that one coming, though it does look like he was being antagonistic in the ebike forum. Maybe that's the source of it.

I'm surprised about Lynx as well. I bet it was that second post shown (ebike forum). I'm sure it is just a week ban. I came across a similar ban a week or two ago, someone notorious for, uh, not getting along in the ebike forum but he's back now.

The shop owner and I exchanged a few PMs about the drag race guy and he spoke as mentioned above. He's tried to get people to lay off the guy. Despite me poking some fun with parachutes, etc, I did post a serious reply to dragracer about what all it takes to put on a race and he seems to have taken it with appreciation as one of only a handful of posts that was trying to be helpful. I've though about PMing him and trying to explain that he can't just bluff his way around here and still expect any respect and serious answers. But he's dug such a hole for himself, I haven't decided if it's worthwhile, I'm just not sure the guy can be helped. A couple of members did offer to send him their old helmets, but rather than see their generous offer, he took it the wrong way.

I think if dragracer posted in a different manner, and probably a different location than "all mtn" he would have been welocomed different. He could have also just had fun with the first few posts, and taken the thread on a different direction. He got po'd and the rest is history.

Chaz, you are the peace maker around here, your posts are always positve and helpful.

    I miss Tone's and Flyin_W.

I think Tone's got suspended for a bit an hasn't been back since mid-2017. Often his comments were hilarious and quite clever (while being a bit more than "edgy" at times as well).

Flyin_W (whom I know and have ridden MTBs with) was banned a couple of years ago.

The list of banned and highly missed personalities is endless. Same goes for many that chose just to leave on their own accord. Many of which frequent other mtb sites. Flyn_W I see often on one of those other sites.

Can understand why the owners and mods would want to keep this place, which is completely free btw, clean, happy and healthy. But donít get why so many members are so sensitive to the antics of the few, who make this place more interesting and colorful. Have seen too many get banned, leave, or just get turned off to the point where they donít post much, by the members holding onto butthurt, whining, and trying to get other members to join in with them.

I PM'd dragster after the first week to congratulate him on starting a funny thread in the first place and to thank him for putting up with the subsequent chiding in the second. Later... well, the wheels came off that thread didn't they. I backed away.

Not surprised LyNx had to take a time out. A month or so ago I neg-repped him for being condescending to an innocent OP (again). For the record I generally don't neg-rep people; his was one of only a handful of down-reps I've awarded in the past couple decades. (Meanwhile I plus-rep folks constantly.) Anyway as expected LyNx slapped me back; he & I haven't talked since. I assumed silence was his way of trying to cheer me up but no, evidently he was gagged & bound to the bench. Hope he fits into a slightly smaller helmet since suffering intervention at Banned Camp.

Crap, somehow I missed this post. I never really picked on anyone on any thread.

The drag race one, was just too easy, and mostly because of his attitude. Now I feel like an ahole!

Generally if you tell a moderator to go F them-self when they gave you a warning, that is grounds for a 1 week ban, do it again and you probably wont come back.

Well, the drag race thread has finally been closed, now if ebike stuff wasnt in general, that will be nice.

Nothing really against them, but I avoid that forum for a reason.

I'm sure he reads these posts. If threads get moved around based on subject, which makes perfect sense, I don't see why not in this case.

I thought that's why there is a specific forum for that.

Again, not being a douche, because I have to stand by for what I say, which is: "don't like it, don't participate" (as I posted in the new gravel forum)

He point blank said that the specific forum is an illusion. People can put counter points wherever they like. His paraphrased words. I don't think he fully understood exactly what that meant or what the fall out would be when he said it though.

Quit pointing at the rules. It has nothing to do with the rules. It has to do with your personal bias and poor choice of words. Let's try it this way, currentIssue != rules.

Made my morning, thanks. That is [kinda] me from back then actually.
I was there as well! I had what I think was probably a Sears Spyder and I vividly remember "drag racing" down a power line trail. Hate to brag butÖ I was the champion! That was despite drawing the non-mainline trail position at the start on the final run of the day. But I was quick off the block and got out in front.

No sponsors contacted me afterwards though.

I have had my run ins with tucker before, but as long as he does not blatantly attack me on a personal level or break other forums rules I am not going to just ban him. That would be pretty cheap.

If I had my way the eBike section would be closed and all discussion about them off limits for a few years. The topic is nearly as bad as political discussions.

I wanted to know that a couple weeks ago and Boris caught on that I wanted to hide the climate change bs. Between that thread and a DJ thread the next day, people had enough and he finally got the hammer. RIP

BTW....I never got an answer, so I assumed the answer was no.

My inclination is that it isn't in the forum software; or maybe the admins either don't know about it, or just haven't used it. Posts from the Recycle Bin show up there, but who knows.

Actually I did a quick search and there is at least one way in vBulletin to "exclude" one or more subforums from being listed in "New Posts" but it may also cause contents of those subforums to be excluded from searches.

    https://www.vbulletin.org/forum/show...ew+post+search

Can't view the code unless you have some sort of vBulletin account.

I'm pretty sure the e-motorbike forum would die on the vine if left alone. Just ignore it, e threads out of the safe space can be neg. repped if you feel so inclined. My personal feeling is that civil war on the board gets a lot of clicks, so rules are randomly put into place to promote it.

I actually think that bike drag racing should be a part of cycling, 100 yards, yea, it most certainly is not a test of cardiovascular fitness, but it is still a test, and arguably a very important one, that is unfortunately never performed.

Let's take the summer olympics for example, many people consider the 100 meter dash to be the most esteemed gold medal there is, as it should be. There is something so great about just flat out pinning it, muscular strength wins.

So why don't we have the equivalent on bikes? Track bike racing? Me'h, kinda lame, more like chess on a bicycle than just running it WFO and seeing who hits the finish line first.

I'd be stoked to watch people line up at a short distance, whatever bike you want, gears, no gears, fixie, track bike... The only rule is, the first person across the finish line wins.

I'll be totally honest here, as a kid I worked in a bike shop, and I spent a lot of my earnings there on the first Jamis Dakar mountain bike, triple butted double welded frame, magura brake levers, suntour XC pro roller cam brakes.... I was a spaz in my mid teens I had quads that kinda hung over my knee caps, and my boss started "the spud challenge" and had me race all sorts of real cyclists over a distance of ~100 yards, standing start, from one light pole in the parking lot to the next. Guys would stop by the shop when out riding, fit dudes, of sweet road bikes, my boss would goad them into racing me, on my 32 pound (?) Jamis Dakar... Only one guy ever beat me, his name was Steve, he was on a mostly white road bike with some blue and orange accents, hats off to Steve whereve he is now, hopefully he's still riding bikes.

As far as I remember he was not banned but rather just disappeared voluntarily without a word. For all we know he could be posting regularly under another user name. I kinda doubt it though. His vibrant personality would be hard to disguise under another name. Hope all is well with him, heís one stand up mate in my book.

Is this a thinly veiled troll post directed at me? Or all deadheads in general? Btw, I'm both honored and offended. I don't deserve the honor and find the attention to be offensive.

It's sad that so many of the sparkling personalities that I found engaging are banned or have lost interest. FWIW, I find e-bikes used by able bodied persons (lazy good for nothings) to be abhorrent.

Nothing to say about the topic, just swoops in to start crap. Be nice when he's gone too.

LyNx's ban expired but his most recent post was two weeks ago... maybe his feelers got torqued to the degree that he's had enough of MTBR. Now welcome back in the house but does he want to come in? He's the missing LyNx.

As for LaneDetroitCity, looks like we might have finally scraped that stink off our shoe for good. Hallelujah.

Has he started throwing in big words yet? That's when you know he's really gunning for you.

When he first joined, all he did was start fights. Then he mellowed a bit and made some worthwhile contributions. But it seems he still can't resist latching on to someone's post and then he just can't let go. It does get humorous when he starts trying to impress with his word choice, though.

Wait, that drag race nonsense was started over here? Too bad there are only like 14 of us still posting over at RBR, that thread could've been great!

Not sure they are taking the sexist thing that seriously. I reported the ďfish tacoĒ post in the underwear ad thread and referred to the complaints of sexism. Nobody cared.
