    Rim tape

    Hello

I was wondering if anybody has ever put rim tape(yeah, like the stuff on crotchrockets) on the outside of a rim. I am not talking about mr. Tuffy type of stuff, but like a colored tape around the outside of the rim just inside the tire. Would look sweet with the right kind. Do you use a roll of it or is it already cut out in a circle?

Is this said "Rim Tape" meant to be used on a bicycle. If so you are in the wrong forum. We don't discuss those ugly contraptions in this forum.

when tape-ing your rim it is important to use the proper terminology. i think the question your asking is how to give a proper rim job? if so, a good cleaning is the first step of this process. perhaps the other members skilled in this type of application can give some good advice... tones?

Hold on SS, i thought cleaning the butthole with the tongue was all a part of the rimming process, ive never heard of people actually artificially cleaning it with anything before the actual rimming process, i thought that first bitter taste was all part of getting to the fun, ive been dead set doing it wrong then, my mrs has me conned !!

But whats actually really kinky and strange is putting coloured tape around the butthole before you go to town on it, some people are damn weird, where is the OP that penned this blog, he is a sick man.

Rincon, you should post your question in General or Wheels and tires. If you do the latter, give us a heads up though so we can head over there to see the responses. They should be very helpful on this matter and I am curious to see what they have to say.

When I read the title of this thread I thought we were going to talk about dental dams.

I was thinking about making an "exclusive playground".. If I ever get it accomplished (it's a storage room atm - I'd need to get rid of everything in there and remodel).. rim tape could be one of the items that adorn the room. How well does it adhere and stick to the body?

I think the OC may have been more helpful for advice on "outside of the rim tape" than the OP let on. He's not getting any in the Wheels and Tires sub-forum.

I think the mrs is being organically/green friendly as your method does not require soap or water. I guess you can also be a sommelier about the whole process.

Rincon98, I applied it to my Stumpy and Pugsly, as I do alot of night riding.
Used 1/4 inch reflective tape, 25 ft roll will be more than enough.
The tape I used came off ebay, comes in most any color, and when car
lights hit it, it is very bright. Easy to put on, just make sure the rim is clean(rubbing alcohol) and follow the rim line........

P.S. The OC is not the place to ask questions, unless it has to
do with the seedy, dark side of the mind.........

Has anybody ever died from a "Rim Tape" overdose? And what are the symptoms to recognise it early on.

I don't think the little guy is retrieving. I think he is making sure the brown rim tape was installed correctly. Or.. he could be cleaning prior to the installation? ala Tones...

i like the idea of reflective rims. my rear rim has been looking rather scuffed lately, i'm wondering if this tape would give me a good rim job, or maybe my rear rim just needs a good buffing and spit-shine. Anybody?

WD-40 would make it shine. I've been known to use it to clean my chrome wheels.

    Rim tape

I prefer a water based lube for waxing rear rims. The new minty flavored are nice. Normally I just spit shine them.
    Whatever I use, I make sure it's non-toxic.
