Can someone please explain what F-88 is or was. Was. Was it a site or a forum on this site. And what was it about and why is it no more.

It was a no holds barred Political Social Religious forum on MTBR that eventually spiraled out of control, with a clique of users invading other forums, attacking other users and eventually the assigned moderator went rogue and made changes within the system itself. It was closed, the users migrated to their own website which eventually imploded as well.

They are the reason that we are so militant over politically and religion directed threads. Sometimes people can show restraint but the anonymity of the internet makes everyone a bully when it comes to discussing current topics about things that don't have 2 wheels and knobby tires (actually even then too).

Roadbikereview forums have an open forum where there is more leniency regarding P-S-R topic threads if you still want to play at that game. Of course they also have their own moderators that will slap you down and out if you go too far.

    Rockcrusher,
Thanks for the explanation. I have seen it referenced about on and off for years and never knew what it was. How long did it run for. I never saw it.

Yea--there is another forum that has the same and I jumped into a conversation and found most of the posters rude and mocking. Lots of high school locker room kinda stuff. Thought maybe a thought provoking discussion, but nope.
I find it sad that the two most important topics that folks can engage in almost always result in childish name calling and insult.
    Very sad. Oh well.

Yes, that's true but you are among the few, the distinguished.

BTW, we are riding the Cannell Plunge next weekend and I plan to take a rod to Lake Isabella for some evening topwater action!

It would be more 'flickable' if they were 26... but I hear 27.5 has already made both obsolete.
