NEW 36" Mountain Bike Wheel Size Announced

I know that a lot of people are switching from their 26s to 29s for better rolling and off road performance but now it seems the NEW standard and final word in wheel size is about to be announced and its 36! Yep you heard it here first!! 36" !!! I managed to get a spy shot of a prototype and here it is.....

Okay, since you're the FNG I'll go easy on you. There is only one bike related thread in the OC, that is Hawg's bike thread. All other bike threads are banished to the wide, wide world of mtb's that is known as MTBR. Thanks for your understanding, enjoy your visit, please return your seat to its fully upright and locked position.

It's okay Gerth. I forgive you, but don't let it happen again.

Saw a cool write up on 36rs. They are really good for riders 6'5"+.

At 6'2" the best part of my 29r was hopping on a bike that felt like it actually FIT me. To hell with all the other magical attributes people claim 29rs have.

Someone suggested in another thread that they think the best move bike companies could make with wheel sizes would be to set them up on a sliding scale to match frame size. ES and S = 26, M = 650, L and XL = 29, XXL = 36. Makes perfect sense to me, but thats not saying much.

Yes the term Off Camber / Off Topic is for anything and that means anything other than politics religion and bikes. If you want to talk bikes other than Hawgs bike thread head out "there" into hostile territory and get ready to argue.

    Girth, length or volume?

I've seen pics, it's unlike anything you have ever seen before or can imagine. Not in a good way, that is... unless you find warts attractive.

I think you are confused and mixed up. Wasn't it Loudviking with the unsightly wart issue. Tones was the one with a fish stuck in his junk eating him a millimeter at a time.

You just gave me an all time bike industry money making idea.

Why not have ANY wheel/tire size available, custom tailored to your height and size? Would that that create a more perfect bike fit for EVERYONE?

Never heard this before but damn it makes sense. That would make my job fitting people for bikes much, much easier. I mean, that's SMART!!

Off topic a bit, but I did put a 26" rear wheel on a 29er today at the shop. It rode really well. Reminded me of the old Specialized Bighits. I have only sold 1 650B this year. I haven't seen one since then. They still make em'?

** edit - Ohh.. damn.. I broke the rule myself. I'll be right back, I must repent while holding a Park Tool.

So it looks like a portabella mushroom?

I have been on the 36" wheel bandwagon for quite a while now. I threw a leg over the Black Sheep bike at NAHMBS last year and fell in love.
But don't worry. There's plenty of room on the bandwagon. You guys can all join me.

I'm actually thinking of a mail order business that justs caters to the " Clyde" mountain biker. Offer just sizes in 2x and up and cool tee shirts ie: logo wear in big sizes and bike gear sized and proven to be Clyde proof. I feel it's about time someone cared about us big guys. Start a revolution !!!! Listen some people are not fat because they eat too much. I gained 160+ pounds from a brain tumor and no one can control being 6ft to 8 ft tall!! Frigging elitist cycling sport needs to realize the enormous monitary potential in showing us big guys some love. Who's with me???

Did I ever tell you about the time I was flying down Whiting Woods and I passed by a girl who was knobbing hard on her man on the side of the trail? The funny thing is, he wanted her to stop but she didn't want to. He pushed her off and he pulled his shorts up. He was facing away from me so he didn't know I was there until I passed by but she could see me approaching...

Were they riding bikes? Cuz the last thing a girl wants in her mouth while I'm riding is my stinky, sweaty D. Maybe she had an electrolyte imbalance?
