90's grunge rock - cheap vintage guitars, heavily distorted amps, unintelligible vocals and drugs.

    Lots of drugs.

For you youngsters out there that may have heard a line in Jimmy Buffet song "stepped on a pop-top, had to limp on back home", and wondered what that means....

Aluminum cans, when they first came out (replaced tin cans) had the familiar 'pop open' way of opening them up. But, the mechanism didn't stay afixed to the can. When you pulled the opening ring off to open the can, you had a seperate little piece of sharp aluminum to deal with.

Back then, hardly anyone was environmentally conscious, so they just threw those sharp little things on the ground. If you stepped on one, you could get a nice little cut on your foot. (Back then, no one ever wore shoes, either, apparently)

Anyways, the point of this story is, when I went to high school, cans still had pop-tops!

I rode my horse to highschool and some of the kids kept .22 rifles in the last locker by the back door. The school administration knew they were there.

Thanks Hawg. that was very kind of you. We know what "Vals" are.
