    Red Dawn (The new one)

Wasn't too bad. Similar storyline to the first one, but changed up for today's audience. I wouldn't say it was better then the first, but remakes rarely are.

Yep - I have not yet seen 'The Hobbit', the lead up was a new story-line over three movies.

    Yesterday was Shadow Dancer.
Irish made movie, very dry and no action.

I just got done watching Sushi Girl.
It's nothing special. Guy gets out of prison after doing time for a robbery, and his old crew pulls him in to find out where the loot is.

Today I got 2 movies in.

Zero Dark Thirty. I don't know how close they stuck to the actual true events, but it didn't seem too Hollywooded. Good movie

The Devils in the Details. Decent movie, but the ending just ended. It was an hour and 40 minutes long. They could have spent 5-10 more minutes and ended it properly.

Caught some of 'Something about Mary' last night on the TV, my wife had never seen it. We didn't last long... not too funny this time round, and Cameron Diaz looks like a cartoon caricature.

Name the last movie you watched

Cowboys versus Aliens. Then I started to watch Snow White and the Huntsman but I had to stop as Kristen Stewart is an incredibly bad actress. Remind me to avoid any film with her in the future.

I am watching Spartacus (1960) directed by Stanley Kubrick, starring Kirk Douglas, Lawrence Olivier and a cast of thousand. Very entertaining

So much of that movie seemed like deja vu (and I'm not 40 yet). Except for the way their kids acted. That wouldn't go down like that in my house.

Name the last movie you watched

Don't know why but for some reason I decided to what "The Day After" which I found on YouTube.

Watching it as I kid I remember being really scared by it. These days it seem kind of tame. Still the kids of today have no idea of the kind of underlying fear that there was back in the Cold War era.

I remember that TV movie really did worry me too as a kid as the Cold War was still raging at the time and we were still fighting proxy wars against the "reds". I guess we could still get nuked by a terrorist group or perhaps North Korea ... but we're no longer talking about the entire county getting it now. I truly hope Washington is on top of this and hopefully ready to nuke back or preemptively as needed. I don't want my kids to doing those drills under their desks like us!

I caught this american teenager classic on HBO the other night. I haven't watched it all the way through for twenty years. Although I have seen it many times I stuck with it to the end the other night. Pretty funny stuff and it definitely takes you back to your high school day's. And your coming of age time of your life.

Caught Argo, Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter, Children of Men, and In Bruges between the flight to Spain and back home last week.

In Bruges was an awesome black comedy. Children of Men gets pretty heady if you let it otherwise it's a great action flick. Abraham Lincoln was pure cheese but fun, not as good as the book but movies never are. Argo was solid all around.

"Watchmen" was on TV last night so I let it run. Made it all the way to the crying on Mars scene before falling asleep. 20 more minutes and I'd have seen the end.

    This is 40

It was super funny at times, but towards the end it seemed a bit dragged out. They probably could have cut out 20 minutes and it would have made the movie much better IMO.

I don't see what the big deal was with that movie. It was decent enough, but I'm not sure why it was such a huge hit at the awards shows.

Does it really make a difference, is it worth seeing in 3D.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter - it was awful.
Zero Dark 30 - tight and enjoyable, but kinda draining

I love Shawshank Redemption. Such a powerful film... I can watch it over and over!

Some of my favorite scenes are when Andy calls the Warden as "obtuse" for refusing to listen to his plea ; and when Andy negotiated to have cold beer for the prisoners

I watched "Lincoln" last night. The surprise ending really shocked me.

Wasn't much action, but I really dig the way people used to talk. Words meant something.
Chasing bears through the woods drunk with a dull hatchet is strongly not advised

I was saying last night to my wife, who saw it with me, that this is one of the best-done 3D movies I've seen actually because the movie wasn't MADE for 3D like so many of the other 3D movies (e.g., tons of obnoxious "in your face" things flying at you to capitalize on the 3D effect). Plus it was just cool to see it on the big screen again. I liked it.

Oh yeah all excellent scenes. Without giving away the movie to the few that haven't seen it. The scene where he dared to help the main guard with a tax issue. He about got thrown off the roof. And then how he planned for 20 years his final goodbye to the warden and his prick guard. Ha,ha a classic for sure. Any that haven't seen this movie you are missing one of the all time best films ever made.

The tax issue / beer scene..

    Both great films.

In Bruge I loved as I've spent a lot if time in that city over the years.

I think Children of Men is more of a mental film. It really trips you if you are a new parent, which I was when I watched it.

I can't believe that a 2D film "forced" into 3D would really make that much difference.
