Yeah it's been on HBO recently and I've caught a few scenes here and there but haven't sat and watched the whole thing. It did look like it was a little out there. From what I saw it reminded me of a toned down Pulp Fiction type.

    Moon.

Never heard of till tonight. Intriguing.
One of my favourite sci-fi movies in years, up their with Primer. Directed by David Bowie's son no less. His next film, Source Code was pretty good too.

I watched 3 films this weekend. the Place Beyond the Pines, Dredd and Mission Impossible 3: Ghost Protocol.

Place Beyind the Pines was probably the best film I'll see this year. Dredd was fanatastic, nice to see the character doe justice onscreen. And MI3 was...well it wasn't very good at all.

Did you like Argo? I don't care for Ben afflect so I avoid his movies but that movie seems pretty good.

The French sandal movie sounds good too.

Thanks the brief write up guys.

I think Afflek's really turned himself around since he started directing movies. Argo was fantastic. As was the Town.

I saw Contagion last night. Certainly not a great movie but it wasn't bad. What it was though was scary. The first five/ten minutes in just sent a chill down my spine like nothing before (if you've seen it and are a dad you know what I mean). What makes it even more scary in the matter of fact presentation to the film. It's not Hollywood sexed up and style over matter. You watch it and it feels real, believable.

It's enough to make you a germophobe!

Cannot even begin to describe this film, but if you are fed up with Hollywood CGI blockbusters then try this.

Just caught one of the funniest movies ever made. Although I've seen it several times I haven't seen it for many years. There is not a scene in this movie that I wasn't rolling. And John Candy was an amazing talent and sadly missed. Highly reccomended for a couple hours of gut wrenching laughter.

You'd gladly sleep with a7/10. Couldn't have been that bad.

Were you drinking while watching the movie? That always adds three to four points to the final score.

Still not impressed with the acting of Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox. Perhaps it was the writer's fault. And Megatron should have been much more cruel and evil.

OK, I need to push "pause" on this thread and share something trippy with you all. I went out to my folks getaway in the desert this weekend and after a busy day of fun, I settled down to watch some premium channel TV movies. But....no signal. Tried the other TV, no signal. So I called my dad and asked WTF? He tells me that since he is not a permanent resident and not under contract, the cable company was willing to discon his cable and recon it for the few days each month he is up there as long as he gave them at least a few days notice ahead. They are prorating his monthly bill for the actual days of service it's connected. He says it's saving him about $100/month. He was told that they did not know how long he would be able to get away with this...

Ever heard of this sort of thing before???

"Play" button has been pushed, carry on...

    There's a pause button? Where?!?!

No, I've never heard of that and I'm pretty sure my local cable company, Cox, would say no way, hosay.

Saw "Mischief" tonight an excellent movie very funny and realistic to it's time period. A coming of age movie set back in the 50's.

    White House down.
Bad but definitely better than Olympus has fallen for sure. The funny bit made it much easier to watch.

I recently watched American Poop Movie. It was awful. And funny. Mostly awful, but funny enough that I watched the whole thing.

Name the last movie you watched

Watched the new Thor movie. I liked it a lot. It seemed to end with a notion that there would be a third one. I hope they don't screw that up.

After Earth. IMO, better than the reviewers stated, but a touch cheesy here and there.

If any of you haven't seen Dreamhouse with Daniel Craig, check it out, very good, it'll make you think.

Spoiler alert, Connery loses. He's just too old to keep it up anymore.

And by keep it up I mean keep up the fight you bunch of perverts.

Grown Ups 2 was an attempt to lure those who liked the first movie back for some more. Nick Swardson's character was a bit too over the top, but that's his thing. A bit of a letdown for me, but funny nonetheless. It's a rental.
Superman: Man of Steel was more intense than I was thinking, but I did like the back story. The story overall was quite good, but when Kent steals clothes off the line I kinda shook my head a bit. That wasn't the only part either, but still an enjoyable movie.
Forgot, Cloud Atlas. I would say it is an interesting way to tell a story over multiple lifetimes and certainly a question is answered, but I don't think they ever gave the answer. Certainly there was a lot of talk about the natural order of things and subsequently there were those who would choose not to go along.
I'd watch them all again, well maybe not grownups 2, there are other comedic movies with more substance than that.

    Man of Steel

Pretty entertaining. Man of steel is the worst of all, all star casts all good except superman.

    This is the end.
Not nearly as funny as I had hoped. Certainly not pineapple express funny although it was entertaining to see Michael Cera on a coke high.

    World War Z.
Thought I'd pass out watching this late last night but it kept me awake and thinking. A winner in my book.

    Drive.

I can't believe it was rated so highly on IMDB. Seems you love it or hate it. Alas I hated it. Just because it's a "art house" movie does not make it good.

Slow, no/inconsistent plot, just a totally unbelievable story line (what little there was), stupid love interest - neighbor falls for quiet, creepy guy who lives life in long pauses -- yeah right, and gratuitous violence that makes no sense and isn't pleasant to watch in the slightest.

I want 100 minutes of my life back. !!

Enemy at the gate. Good movie. No fake accent, just straight up English.

I just bought a Mosin Nagant and this movie was recommended to me.

Name the last movie you watched

    Movies this last week:

    Thor
    The Avengers
    Home Alone
    Frozen
    Warm Bodies

The first two so my wife could catch up on the Marvel series. Home Alone because, well, it's Christmas.

Frozen because we had 3 hrs to burn waiting for Santa and the screening time worked out perfect. Turns out its a jolly good film as well.

Warm Bodies we happen to have floating around. Wife and I both see this as being aimed at teenagers. Fun enough but we're probably 30 years past it's target demo.
