    Lots of moisture in Aug an Sept......
    ...so fall mushrooms are popping .....Here are a few from Grand Isle Vermont...island in the middle of Lake Champlain....and a couple more from a trail up to Snake Mountain in Addison Vt....

    Should've tried to get something else in the picture for reference of scale, but this one was about 4-5" wide & very bright!! On the flanks of Humphrey's Peak near Flagstaff, AZ.

    Look like the same kind as plummet's. The big one is probably 2 feet across. I had never seen anything like it before.

    Edit: After a few minutes of research it appears to be a Berkeley's Polypore. Edible when young. Often grows at the base of hardwoods. It's parasitic to them and causes them to rot out. My first photo seem to be a good example of that.

    Been wet here in Wisconsin, Prime conditions for morels...couldn't ride due to the rain so I took a hike instead and picked a couple pounds.

    Some of those mushrooms are huge!

    I didn't have any new shots of mushrooms on my PC as I've stopped taking pictures of them but now after seeing these pics, I feel like getting back into it!
    Anyways here are a couple old ones of mine.

    Groovy. I found just enough for a meal for us, as well as some asparagus. I don't soak mine in salt water anymore, I just check them for grubs and wash them off and eat them. They are good, once in a while, but I wouldn't pay $14 a lb for them!
