 Singlesprocket found an Awesome Laetoporous Sulfurus or "Chicken of the woods", (on the tree).
Did you eat any of that monster?

I see lots of Amanita Muscaria, Chanterelles, Boletes, Suillis, and scary looking russelas and Lactarius.

Killer stuff! No shrooms here yet, its way dry!

Bood job everybody I'll post some as they sprout!

Here is a mushroom (or some sort of fungus) from the Ozarks in Missouri. Found it while riding the trail with my dog during a water break.

now THESE are magic mushies. i find the best way to take 'em is to just eat them where you find them. it's great fun, trippin' in the bush, at one with nature. Bill Hicks has an interesting perspective on 'shrooms. if you're at a party it's hilarious to boil up a big broth and pass a 2Lt bottle of mushie juice around. you can really get the joint jumping with some completely random and interesting results. of course, be really careful with mushies, they're powerful. some people who are predisposed to mental illness should NOT take mushies. their psychological condition could immediately become very acute and they may not recover. like at all, ever. however, imho, they're less harmful than a lot of other chemical enhancements, stimulants, or downers, not only because you really won't want to have them too often (just take my word for it ;), ok ), but because they are completely natural, the general effect being reflective of this. i wasn't around in the timothy leary days of liquid lsd, but i will recommend mushies over a regular tab of acid any day. :p

hey, they're not good for you, let's make that clear: NOT good, physically or psychologically. however, if you wanna trip-out in the forest they can be rather fun, in moderation of course.

I don't know many of the mushrooms from your area of the world, but the first one is certainly some type of Stinkhorn. Looks similar to Aseröe rubra, but I am not sure that is it. It looks a bit different from what I have seen. The second one may be some sort of Cortinarius, but don't quote me on that. Very cool stuff.

Very nice. You may be right, but I had trouble showing the scale of that mushroom. It is huge! What you don't know is that the lighter is 2 feet tall. :p

Wow, some great photos in here. I usually don't ride with a camera, so I don't have any ride-specific photos. But, I do occasionally pick some edibles. Chicken and hen of the woods, and fortunately our puffballs and giant puffballs don't have any inedible variants.

    Ganoderma tsugae

Commonly called the Hemlock Varnish Shelf. Inedible, but valued in asian markets as an anti-cancer fighter when made into a tea.

    Maitakes
Found these Grifola frondosa yesterday. AKA Maitake, Hen of the Woods, Sheep's Head. Delicious with pasta and fresh tomatoes last night. Many pounds in the freezer also. September and October is the time to find these delicious treats at the base of oak trees.

I had my first two flower up over the weekend, we've been getting a lot of rain and some cooler temps the last week. Before I thought about this thread and snapped a photo I had already harvested and cooked them up! Next one that flowers I'll try to remember to photograph before eating. ;)
